Farid looks confused, "Gain? From this? I don't think anyone could gain much from this tragedy." He raises his urgosh, "Why don't we go there and clear out some kobolds? Hopefully it's not too late for the rest of the town. Should we bring extra milk?" Faird tightens some belts, ready to go.

Katherine looks at him with interest. "And then we'll leave them to the vengence of a cranky shapechanging dragon when we're done?" She glances around the group. "We have the reports of a brave but confused child, who was sheilded from much by her mother. If you want to charge in and look for kobalds to rout, hoping that this dragon isn't out of our league and that the kobalds don't start killing villagers as retribution before they leave... I guess you can do that, but its not my idea of fun. My preference would be to find out as much as we can first, and maybe develop a plan to safegaurd the villagers."

She looks at the others, recalling their stated talents. "Sina said that the kobalds hide when there are visitors to the village. So a few of us could pass ourselves off as common travelers and try to make contact with the girl's family, let them know she's safe and that we want to help. We could find out how many kobalds there are and how well armed. Another group could search the surrounding area for any sign of this dragon."

"Its not as exciting an idea, I know, but living through this sounds nice too."

"Sounds exciting to me! More exciting than staring at the bottom of a mug of ale anyway. Count me in. I know my way around the wilderness and Mongrel will make up for any gaps in my knowledge. Ooo, I just love a good hunt. I agree with Katherine though, it's best to hunt when your quarry does not know a hunter is around."

Kathrine's right. We don't have enough information, and fighting a dragon in a populated area is a bad idea. We need to find out if we can lure the dragon away, and at least disable it before we try much in the town. I wonder if the dragon would go for a rumor about an undefended caravan.

walking over th the bar
"some mead please"
places a silver piece down on the bar and turns to watch the activities in the bar around him

"The child might want some retribution of her own. Extermination of the Kobolds, root and branch, will be needed if the villages are to thrive.

On the other hand, the question must be asked: What be the Dragon doing in such a place?"

Veras-Re leaned upon his walking stick, hand resting on the lump of black glass at its handle end.

Farid shakes his head, "I don't mean ta be rude, but think that seems naive. Leave th' townspeople to the vengance of a cranky dragon? Where were they before?" He pleads to his colleagues, "Nay, the longer we wait, the more people will suffer. This child, as you said, was shielded by her mother -- could we not gain much more information if we were at least nearby the town? Surely surrounding towns would have more information than this girl -- and probably be serve better refuge than them staying there. Maybe without the kobolds, the dragon will not be able to keep track of all the townspeople."

Farid shrugs. "That is indeed a similar idea to what I had, but I don't see why this can not be discussed on the trip."

Farid looks a little worried, "I may be sturdy, but I do not know that we can actually defeat a dragon. I was hoping to find more information about the kobolds and deal with that situation while trying to avoid the dragon. The dragon we may encounter on a later encounter."

Quarion Holimion, Elven Druid

The door to the Red Dragon Inn opens. A rather tall elf is standing in the doorway. His clothes are dirty and innumerable pieces of the woodlands have found their way onto and into his forest green cloak. His brown breeches are torn and patched with hide in several places, at the knees especially, and the toes of his boots are covered in old, worn leather. His gloves are not on his hands, they rest in his belt, hardly used at all. A light green vest covers a grey cotton shirt, both are almost black with in several spots. Tangled into his hair are twigs, ivy, and leaves. Yet despite all this dirt and messiness, the various parts of the wilderness seem to belong on the dirty elf, as though they were things of his natural form. The tree-bits in his hair are arranged in a chaotic but strangely beautiful way. His eyes, surrounded by layers of earth, are deep brown and kind looking, like those of a wise old grandfather.

He looks about the tavern and sees the center of attention: the small girl. Walking over to her, he announces in his fair elven voice, "Greetings. I am Quarion Holimion, of the woods to the north. I heard talk of a dragon and a brood of monsters." He turns to the girl and kneels next to her. The strange scent of dirt, herbs, and plants emanate from the lanky elf. "Little girl, I know not from where you come, but I know very well the fear of losing your loved ones. Rest assured that this monster, this denial of the glory of nature, shall be stopped. I swear on the great oak of my home forest that I shall do whatever I can to destroy that thing. Now, be calm, hush, don't cry little one. Tell us all that you can, so that we might be better suited to assist you."

"A shapechanging dragon,"

"Yeah, that is far from unusual... but I can't remember which type of dragon do that. I think it is the metal dragon, but how the dragon act make no sense, as metal dragon are generally peacefull... must be a chromatic, but which one? Or maybe a rarer kind of dragon. SHoucld have taken more care to that book my mentor forced me to read."

"Some senses, that's good. I like this idea. ALways better to know with what you'll be playing."

"As far as I know about dragon, it is hard to understand them. Just look, they hordes gold and do nothing with it. Does that makes senses?"

"Trying avoid the dragon... I think kobold is the small parts of the problem, and dealing with the dragon is what is needed. And dealing with a dragon doesn't mean figthing it, because, there, you are right, I doubt we can win against one, even with the number of volonteer there is here. WIth some luck, we will be able to find another way to deal with it."

"Well, we are a small army now... not a bad thing if we need to fight, but not that good if we need to be subtle, and I've always prefered the last."

"If I remember correctly, some dragons can shapechange my nature, and some change shapes with spells. If it shapechanges by casting, any fight would be suicide. Oh, by the way, how big is the dragon it its dragon form?"
