Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

The door opens again and a bumbling gnome wearing a forest green cloak and silver spectacles at the end of his large nose. He mumbles something incoherent, clacking his walking stick against the ground. He looks up at the people in the tavern and recognizes a few people he knows. Walking up to them he says sarcastically, "Hi there, friends. Long time no see." He scowls some more then brightens up a bit. "Oh well, always more fish in the sea, my father always said. And less fishy fish, too. That job didn't 'smell' quite right to me."

Suddenly seeing someone he doesn't know in the group, he jumps and immediately straightens his clothing in the presence of the female foreigner. "Oh! Eh, er... my goodness, didn't see you there ma'am, I uh... yes! I am Fimbus Leyron Aukits Macklerey Gimmons the Third, illusionist extraordinaire at your service, milady." He gives a sweeping bow in her direction, then puffs out his chest nobly. "From where do you hail?"

Lasair perks up immediately when she discovers that her assumption is wrong and turns around with a winning smile.

"My dear lords, I am full of apology for my previous eccentric behaviour...I...must have been mistaken, and I do hope I did not make the wrong impression."

"As to my skills, noble A'jardin, I cannot claim the mighty earth-shattering magics ofthe arcanist, but I...I have a way with reading and manipulating people's Zivaash. I suppose that makes me not much use for anyone..."

She turns towards the first newcomer.

"Greetings Artemis! The meticulous gleam of your armour, even as you venture forth from an aborted mission, sings your passion for your work."

As the door opens yet again, Lasair looks at the newcomer, startled. Wow! So this is a...

"Welcome master...uhh...The-Third," she says, smiling sweetly at his fidgeting. Now this, rather than A'jardin's passive nervousness, was the sort of uncomfortableness to which she was used among men.

"We have before us a bounty of blessed water, so I shall not require your service of you this day."

"I...I don't come from around here. Orussus, she is new to me."

"Oh, I am sorry, ma'am. Tis a pleasure to meet you. If you are need of any help, please let me know." It can be seen that Artemis is struggling with his best common, so as to seem more intelligent than he really is. And with that, Artemis takes a seat at the table, making sure not scuff his armor as he sits. He pulls out his artisan tools and begins to fix the tiny spot on his armor where he fell off of the wagon. The people around him can see the joy he is taking in this craft, as he finally begins smiling after he has completed the mending.

"Hello, Fimble! Seems like we are getting a number of our friends now." Anton waves at the newcomers and listens to the Dwarf's song for a little while. Lasair, what is this Zivaash you mention?"

"It is...hard to explain precisely. It is the astral wind that swirls around a person's soul, carrying an ineluctable imprint of their being. It is an eddy carrying immaterial but crystalline shards of spirit through the aether."

"Am I simply confusing you more without cause? My apologies, but its hard for me to explain. The explanation is for me like it would be for you if I asked you to explain the state of Kiu'uda you enter in your mind's eye when you draw back the bow, peering deep into your heart as you release the string."

Anton smiles, "Ha, you speak in difficult words, maybe too difficult. Maybe it is a physical -- no, that cannot be correct. A metaphysical manifestation of my personality? And you have the ability to see this? When I draw my bow, the feeling is more of being myself. It is not a state I enter, but a state I am always in."

Anton ponders the ambiguity of his statement and winks, "Does that make sense to you?"

Lasair bows slightly.

"Indeed, it makes perfect sense, perhaps because I spend my days in study of just these sorts of phenomena. But you...you seem to have understood the concept of Zivaash much faster than most to whom I have needed to explain it."

"I can indeed sense the Zivaash of those around me, and what's more I can...for lack of a better analogy...gently caress the threads, changing a person's self-perceptions...to make them feel better about themselves for instance. When I have more practise, I hope to be able to help people in breaking addictions, or motivating themselves to make their lives better."

Earth-shattering magics indeed. Eventually such power may be attained by one who desires or needs it, but at present I am but a humble seeker for knowledge who has mastered a few minor dewomers. But this er... Zavish is intriguing, it is a field around people that reflects their inner state? Is this seperate from the er... "wind" as you would say of magic that flows around us all? I've heard of more powerfull spells that allow one to actually see the magical auras that spells give off, but I have never heard of such a thing being associated with people who have no magic active upon them. And do beasts have this Zavish field around them too? A'jardin whips out a small sheaf of paper and jots down some notes, muttering, facinating this... never would have imagined...

"The Zivaash is separate from the flow of Lledrith, yes, but yet they are interwoven together, continually interacting. Eddies of magic will change the shape and nature of the Zivaash, and indeed, the most powerful of we who sense the Zivaash can even alter the flow of Lledrith, altering the condition of your magic. And there is even a way to definitely determine the strength and true nature of any being or object directly from observing the Zivaash. Nevertheless, these are principles that in practise elude a novice such as myself."

Lasair gives a small smile and shakes her head in disgust at herself as she mentions her lack.

"As for creatures, they do indeed have a Zivaash, although their Zivaash is more alien to me than those of humans and their ilk...I am afraid that I do not yet have the skill to influence their Zivaash either."

Lasair sighs.

"In explaining my talents to you, it is only becoming more evident how much there is I cannot do and how little I can."
