Melisande was not a complete stranger to the Order of Lady Kamara, but not exactly familiar with them either. Judging by the woman before her she was assuming there was a martial element about it.

“I commune with Him everyone morning and he grants me the gift of spells. But he does not speak to me if that is what you might think.”

“Tis more like a feeling that I get to confirm a decision. But Helerion can work in mysterious ways and probably puts fated events before me, such as my being here in this tavern. I have this nagging feeling that something requiring my expertise will be revealed here.”


She sat on a bar stool and sipped some of the wine she ordered.

“Is this a solo posting for your Order here in Venza? What about worshipers of the Saints, are there many of them here?”

The strange painted man, who had gone silent and still for some time now, suddenly drew attention to himself once more as he started his act up once more, only this time with even wilder movements, howls, and random cantrip like effects, including starting off with a few gallons of water appearing over his head and drenching him as it came down. A few folks who had come in while he was still moved away rapidly when their mugs of beer started randomly floating, and a few of the staff have definitely been keeping an eye on him, but otherwise, his presence does not seem to have much effect on those gathered in the common room.

As she is serving other customers, Marla passes close by Heinrich and overhearing his comments, "You earned your reputation some time ago, and your new friend is learning your bad habits, sadly. That man is for now merely an oddity and a performer who brings in a audience..although could change shortly the way things are progressing." The last part was spoken through clenched teeth as one of the plates fell to the floor and smashed into small pieces. As she walked away, she says something under her breath, with the only clearly understood part being "one of those shifts" surrounded by a lot of unintelligable, but very forceful and sharp, words, at least a few of which probably weren't very nice.

"Ja, I get that Marla." He becomes strangely silent after that.

Larissa's attention turns briefly from Melisande to the antics of the painted man and the spellcasters who have taken an interest. But seeing no cause for concern in the situation, she returns her attention to the paladin.

"There are not many followers of the Saints in Venza," she replies. "The temple is small, and the council that runs it is less formal than those in Rornian cities. There are other devotees of Kamara in the city, but I am the only regular at the temple with formal training from the Order." She shrugs. "Truth be told, the nature of a posting from the Order is hard to explain to someone outside of it. One of my Lady's tenets is that any who seek to do things of true worth in this world must find their own way to them. So the Order cannot dictate its goals too closely when it makes a posting, and in the end the success of the venture should only be judged by the Lady on the passing of her servant." Larissa smiles wryly. "But perhaps Her Council's most routine sin lies in its judgment of its agents."
