A call to adventure

Thick curtains of rain fall outside, turning the streets to mud, and peals of thunder resound in the distance. Your evening's rest comes to an abrupt end when a figure enters the inn and slams the door behind him. His shoddy cloak is
drenched, and when he pulls back the cowl, you see that he’s a young goblin boy. He nods to the innkeeper sheepishly, then slinks toward Grys. From within the folds of his cloak, he produces a dry, unsealed letter and hands it to you.

[sblock=Grys]
The letter reads as follows;

Good Eladrin,

I have heard tales of your heroism and wish to employ your services.

Adventure awaits in the borderlands! Prince Oargev ir'Wynarn of New Cyre has authorized me to pay well for your time and effort.

If this offer intrigues you, look for me at the House Orien lightning rail station in Tavick's Landing tomorrow morning.

I will find you there.

With respect and regards,
Captain Nathan Faringray of the New Cyre Guard

[sblock=Grys II]
Feel free to recruit whoever you see fit. I'll leave it to you. I'll take up to 6 PC's, just make sure to grab a good mix. [/sblock]

"At last, a job!" Grys exclaims loudly and stands up. He hands the goblin boy a small denomination coin.

"It looks like I'll be needing some companions for a job. Who's willing to trek all of the way to New Cyre in order to collect a paycheck? It'll probably involve standard threat to life and limb, but one cannot always be choosey when a paycheck is involved. Any takers? You, warforged. You look capable."

Mythra cocks an eyebrow. Ah, an adventure I see. Might be a good way to travel. It has been getting more dangerous as of late, even for my talents. He thinks.

Perhaps you could use the aid of a fellow of your kind? Mythra asks Grys. The creatures under my command could surely aid you and I have been wanting to travel to New Cyre.

Mythra looks around Where is that blasted cat! Martha! he shouts.

[sblock=ooc]Wizard 4 looking for adventure. (needs approval)

Still new to 4th edition and play by post.

I am currently in an adventure in L4W, so I would be gladly to step aside for those who are not on any adventures. :)

Ryda looks to Grys as he calls to Unit 16, and is barely able to contain her smile at the big lug’s loyalties. Standing, she approaches Grys. It would appear one of the little band I am a part of is interested in this job, and the other goes where we do. I am interested, but would like a bit more information before I sign on. Is this a hunt, escort, rescue, or retrieval job? Would you be our patron, or the person you work for?

"I am not the patron, merely the contact to the patron. I have no idea what the job might entail. I will find that out tomorrow as will you if you join up. Come, let us sit at your table to discuss this." Grys says.

Grys motions to the other Eladrin. "Come, join us."

"My name is Grys Valaera, formerly of House Deneith. I am a Fire Mage. I throw fire at my foes and sometimes set them on fire. If any of you are squeamish about that, well..." Grys shrugs. "To me, it is no different than putting a sword or an arrow through their guts. I can also blast foes with arcane force." Grys says.

"I did not really catch any of your names. Sorry, I was just not paying attention. Who are you and what skills do you bring to an endeavor?" Grys says.

My name is Ryda, and these are my companions: Jarren, motioning to the shifter, and Susan, motioning to the warforged. We recently returned from slaying an owlbear and it’s corruptors who set it to rampage an elven village. I will let them introduce themselves better, but I am archer of some skill who is quite nimble on her feet.

Jarren takes a seat at Grys's table and listens calmly through the mage's speech about incinerating people.

"I am a spirit-talker,"
he says softly after Ryda has finished her own introduction. "I channel their wisdom, and their power. I can provide healing and defensive support in a fight."

"Grys, can you tell us anything about your patron? Anything about his loyalties and likely concerns? It seems like good sense to get an idea of what we're jumping into."
