[Tavern] Tower's Shard 2010

A tall, mysterious looking man slips quietly through the tavern door. He stands to the side of it for a moment as he looks quickly this way and that, taking stock of the tavern's current patrons. Any who notice him, also notice there isn't much about him to see. He's dressed all in black including black gloves that cover his hands and a black hooded cape that covers his face remarkably well.

He breathes a small sigh and moves purposefully into the room. He had, at first, planned to speak plainly to anything looking like a good-sized group that looked friendly to each other, but he sees not too many patrons in the tavern today, so he decides to risk a note, which he had hoped to avoid.

Sitting quickly at an empty table near the door, he pulls a bit of parchment and charcoal from one of his belt pouches and scribbles quickly. Once finished, he replaces the charcoal in his pouch and approaches the bar. He slides the note over to Brews with a whispered request to hang it somewhere visible, since he had nothing to hang it with on his person, then turns and leaves without another word to anyone.

The note is hung with other similar parchments on a board next to the bar. Those approaching it read the following:

[sblock=Note]Seeking several able-bodied adventurers to retrieve lost goods. Mission is highly dangerous. Consider that you may not return. Compensation will be offered. Interested parties should present themselves at my private residence. Present the sigil below to the guards at the entrance to the Highwater District and they will direct you accordingly.
[sblock=ooc]There are six sigils spaced nicely along the bottom of the parchment. It looks like you could tear one away and easily leave the others. Alternately, a large group could just present the whole paper.

You do notice there is no name attached to the note at all.[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]This is an adventure recruitment for 4th level characters (or I could go with one or two at 5 if needed). It was designed as a 4th level adventure because I know there were other plans in the works for a higher level one. I hope that's not an inconvenience for anyone.

I am hoping for 4-6 total players.[/sblock]

As the tall leave, an elf enter the place. He looks around. "That place hasn't changed in forty years..." he tells to himself.

The elf wear a light vest, light pants and a sash. He also get a bandana. He looks like to get out of the port. He also carry on his back a large curved blade. "Malehan, sailor and mercenary!"

He then walk to the bar. "A warforged, I didn't remembered that. I'll take you some rhum and some water."

[SBLOCK=OOC]Malehan, Valenar elf, Avanger lvl 7 seeking a contract.[/SBLOCK]

The door opens and a large dwarf dressed in battered chainmail and a torn cloak enters the room. He limps towards a stool near the bartender, leaning heavily on his bright silver walking cane. Barkeep, please...a pint of ale and a bowl of your famous beef stew. It's...been a while since I've had good quality food.

After eating he then turn to face the patrons. Rather than yelling at the top of his lungs to gain everyone's attention, he takes out a lantern and mumbles a short command. The lantern begins to float. It follows a path around the entire establishment and the returns to the dwarf, hovering directly above the dwarf's head.

Having the attention of everyone in the room, he begins in a somber tone. My name is Knoepf, a cleric, a of humble servent of the lady of the silver flame. A short while ago I was one of five who formed a group to investigate the cause of the horrific killings of innocent people that have taken place thoughout the area. He takes a drink and then continues.

In our search, we were able to find the culprit, an evil sorcerer named Ladoran. After a brief battle, in which we were beginning to have the upper hand, he opened a trapped door in which all of us fell, ending up in a sewer system of some sort. There, we had to battle our way out, fighting horrific evil. Only our strength and will to survive got us through. Unfortunately, during an attempt to reach the surface to escape the sewers, a massive cave in took place. I am sad to inform you that at least two members of the party perished, as I saw their deaths with my own eyes, watching massive bolders fell apon them, powerless to help any of them. Their names: Hasifer and Artemus. For those who knew them, I'm sorry. He pauses for a few minutes.

As for the other two members: Boruuk and Tirial, I know not their fate. Maybe they survived, although I highly doubt it. Another pause to drink his ale.

Everyone, I've come to ask for your help for there is much work to be done. In addition to the one responsible for the deaths of many in this town, there is a vampire named Sloane and an evil spell caster named Horan. Although we where were able to slay Sloane's and Horan's skeleton and beholder minons, they escaped our grasp! Knoepf says angerly, slamming his walking cane on the ground, where at the point of impact, the floor now glows a silverish hue.

Come join me if you will to help me rid this evil from our world! I...cannot do it alone. Who will help me in continue this quest?

With that, the lantern lowers and the cleric places it under his cloak, waiting for a response.

Need four more characters ranging from lvl 5-7 for a continuation of Murders Most Foul.

The dm is KarinsDad: an evil, ruthless DM who creates skill challenges and encounters with the intent of creating havoc to all players involved in his games ;) Just kidding

Knoep is a lvl 6 cleric (will be once he is approved)
Any defenders, strikers and controllers in the house?

Vex had noticed the first newcomer, the mysterious fellow in the black cloak, and after his departure she had made her way over to read the posted note. It didn't really tell her much about the job, but work was work...

She was still thinking matters over when the dwarf made his entrance, and told his tale. THAT sounded far more interesting. Murderers at large, battles in the undercity, companions lost to the challenges of the hunt...

With a confident swagger in her step, Vex made her way across the room to stand beside the dwarf. A tall human woman in fancy half-plate armor (and an even fancier broad-brimmed hat), with sharp features and her hair cut short in a military style, she smiled as she spoke. "I'm Vex. Sounds like you're partway through a tale of woe. I'd be willing to help if you need a sword," she said confidently, with a wave of her hand towards the large sword that she had left leaning against the wall by her table...

[sblock= OOC] A bit shorter intro than I might have done, but I'm getting ready for a trip. I'll be away from early tomorrow until late Monday (or maybe Tuesday)- if that isn't an obstacle, I would like to sign up. Vex is a hybrid Barbarian/Fighter, level 6- probably closer to Striker than Defender but pretty durable; she is a replacement for a previous character and was just submitted for approval. http://leb.wikia.com/wiki/LEB:PC:Vex_(pathfinderq1) [/sblock]

The dwarf looks at Vex and then the sword, and than smiles. Bless you Lady Vex. We will definitely need one of your talents in order complete what must be done. The dwarf turns to the bartender and orders two ales. When others arrive I will tell you more about the foes that we will face. Until then, enjoy a delicious pint of the best ale around.

354b sees the tall mysterous man enter and deposit the note, intregued by notes, he moves over to read it. He carefully removes a sigil and waits to see if anyone else is interested.

From the left corner of the tavern you can see two green eyes brighten at the words of the dwarf.

"It seems I could be of help in your quest", he replies. "I had heard something about attacks on some of Orien caravans, which sounds much like what you've told us." he then moves closer to the dwarf and the female warrior.

[sblock=OOC]Garrick d'Orien, striker/defender hybrid at your service, though I'm still pending approval on his overhaul. http://leb.wikia.com/wiki/LEB:PC:Garrick_d'Orien_(Otakkun)) [/sblock]

The Wilden at the table with the bard is lounging and totally misses the the tall man's entrance. When the man posts his sign, the tiny imp girl smacks the treeman on the chest, producing a sound like a hollow log struck by a staff. Karananak is roused and Eve point to the posting by the door as a strange warforged tears a small portion from the sign. So the druid gets up and strolls over to the note in his long, loping stride to have a read. He shrugs and tears a sigil from the paper as well. Eve has her tiny claws embedded in his chest as she tries to read the note as well pointing to the man that posted the request had left. His clawed feet latch into the wooden floor with each step as the Wilden steps over to the board.

The elf looks at the dwarf as he tells his story. "Some action could make me some good. My last travel have been boring and uneventful. But is there a pay at the end of that story? A reward?"

Thalin watches with curiosity as the sneaky man entered the tavern, and tried to stealthily post a job. “Well, he won’t get much business that way now will he? You need to be more vocal, like Master Knoepf.” The half elf stand slowly, offering a slight bow to the cleric, “Alas, with the blessings of the Gods, you would not need one of my skills. Fair winds and smooth seas on your quest” Turning to Vex he adds, “Milady.”

Striding over to the notice board, her peers down and reads, occasionally scratching his head. “Well, at least he’s consistent, not very much in the way of details except death and destruction. Why couldn’t I have gone into tailoring, like me cousin Lorelai…” he says glumly. Perking up, he quickly adds, “Oh right, cuz it’s boring!”

Nodding to Karananak, he turn to look at the mostly silent warforged, and offers a hand, “Names Thalin, and it appears we might be working together for a bit, you are…?”

[sblock=Vert]The guy dashed out after posting the note, we need to go to him ;)[/sblock]
