[Tavern] Tower's Shard 2011

Khazin steps into the Tower's Shard. He cuts an imposing figure at first: His height, already well above average, is exaggerated by his wiry frame and long limbs. His hood is thrown back, but that only reveals his wild mane of dark gray hair. His face is concealed behind a bronze mask, and only a tiny glint of light confirms that there are eyes peering out from behind it. The massive sword in a baldric at his shoulder looks much too heavy for his thin arms, but much too stained and well-maintained to be for show.

His obvious disorientation and confusion spoils the effect. He scans the tavern (his head turns) and then whirls to look back outside. He steps back inside, much less urgently, and scratches the back of his head, looking ponderously at his feet. He takes a seat and looks over a scroll of parchment he produces from a bag hanging by his waist, and then sits at Malehan's table without acknowledging the elf in the slightest.

OOC: Khazin, Level 4 Avenger of the Path of Light, at your service.

Ghourra looked at the newcomer, to others his height may have been imposing. but the poor thing was only skin and bones. He was obviously undernourished in the eye of the mul who had well over a hundred pounds on him even though she was a few inches shorter. When he looks confused and disoriented, she figures he must be ill.

"Poor man... Brews, get the tall one a bowl of soup and put it on my tab. He is obviously suffering from nausea and dehydration."

"All he need, it is a good shot of rhum. Bring two of them, Brew!" Brew nods. A moment later, he arrives with a bowl of soup and two shots of rhum.

Malehan takes one of the shots and push the shot to his new table mate. "Let's drink to you... what your name?"

OOC: Got a perfect portrait for Khazin doctor'd up!

OOC: Oh damn, left my reply open while I ran errands and missed this post.

Malehan takes one of the shots and push the shot to his new table mate. "Let's drink to you... what your name?"

Khazin hears the Mul's words, but doesn't realize she is talking about him until the elf at his table replies. He turns to get a long look at the mul, and then looks at Malehan. His masked face is, naturally, unreadable. Finally Khazin puts his parchment away, picks up his shot, and says in an even tone, "Khazin is my name." He pushes back his mask and reveals that he is a Githzerai, then sips his liquor. "Thank you, you two," he says. He doesn't smile- his face is somewhat mask-like itself, a sign that it's rarely been shown in public for a long time. He eats a few spoonfuls of soup, nods appreciatively, and continues. "I'm looking for a contact here in Sharn. 19 D'Schain, Platform 13-H. I'm told, however, that that whole platform is closed down for extensive structural renovation. I can't seem to find the place to verify that, but now I don't know where to start my search." He makes it clear that he's speaking to both of his new benefactors- Ghourra is fortunately sitting at a table close enough that addressing her doesn't require shouting for the whole tavern to hear.

"Ah, a Githzerai. Did I pronounce this right?
Your race is known for some connection to the psionic powers.
What is your opinion regarding the Inspired?"

A tiefling in wizard's robes says after the Kahzin's race is revealed.

[sblock=OOC]

The Inspired are humanoid vessels specifically bred for Quori possession. Inhabiting the ever expanding nation of Riedra in Sarlona the Inspired have slowly began expanding into Khorvaire starting to make trips to its eastern shores.

Many are servants of the Dreaming Dark.

Riedra originally belonged to the tieflings.

Khazin gives the newcomer a suspicious once-over. "Your pronunciation is correct," he says. At the mention of the Inspired, Khazin tenses. He tries to hide it, but fails to do so perfectly. His eyes widen slightly and his feet shift slightly closer to his center of gravity- in short, he unconsciously prepares to meet danger. His voice remains even, however. "Why do you ask?"

[sblock=Insight/Perception DC 15]The Inspired is a sensitive topic for Khazin. He hates and fears them, but is not completely surprised to hear about them here.[/sblock]

[sblock=Religion DC 20]Inconspicuous, obscure regalia adorning Khazin's robes suggest that he is a follower of the Path of Light, a religious philosophy with a following comprised almost entirely of kalashtar.[/sblock]

[sblock=Religion DC 30]Khazin's weapon and body language suggest that he is a practitioner of Sheshan talarash dasyannah, the Path of Shadows, a martial art form peculiar to the kalashtar that weaponizes the artistic dance practiced by followers of the Path of Light. Those "dancing with the shadows" are more the militant of the followers of the Path of Light, and seek to meet the violence of the Dreaming Dark with violence of their own.[/sblock]

[sblock=Insight DC 5]A quest involving the Inspired would be a fantastic idea why don't you submit one! :D[/sblock]

"Because I hate them for stealing my birthright. Your garb suggests that I have maybe found an ally against hem in you."
Deimos answers sincerely.

Deimos answers sincerely.

Khazin notes the sincerity. He calms, and his gaze hardens. "We should talk. Is this place safe?"

Deimos indicates the mul. "I worked with Ghourra before, and he knows my alliance. But there are also backrooms available. They are usually used to give some privacy for employees to share their situation with hired adventurers."

"But you of course wouldn't want to come without darkness o guard your back. Or front."

a voice from behind Ghourra says in an even, pleasant tone of voice. Even so, subtle dread can be felt while it spoke.

"I am looking for the allies to come into True Darkness Below, so I'm offering the same in the Above. If you need the wizard and mul, I'm offering myself too. We had our differences, but they are competent and reliable."

After the voice finishes, slight figure gets up and changes positions so he's no longer hidden behind Ghourra's bulk. It is cowled even in muted light of the tavern, in voluminous black robes that hide everything.

The figure removes the hood for a moment and perfectly black orbs on a black face focus on the avenger.
"Bellegon Darksun." offers umbragen with a slight bow.
