I don't recall exactly, but I think there was some reason why they couldn't. Maybe they didn't know exactly where a ship was or something, or it was a jump. I can't remember!

Yeah, I was thinking about not being able to find them (which seems odd with as much more advanced as they'd be). Jump technology would be interesting...

"Behold, yea these many years have I seen upon this ship of mine ancestors. Hardship and toil of centuries have they passed through. And now, as I near the end of my own days, ready to cast my shell to the starfires like my forebears, I finally stand upon this new land. Hark! Hear the voices of life! New people amongst the stars, the likes of which hath never humankind met!"

"Hey there, welcome to port 23. You seem a little lost."

"Can it be? The aliens are like unto ourselves to behold?!?! Is humanity the unvarying end-point of animal progress? A perfect form? What a discovery!"

"Lets see, the data says you were from the 2134 CE sub-light colonization ship. Hey, that's kind of cool. I think of heard about you guys from school."

"What means this? Ye hath heard tell of our grand mission? The great data rays of the ancestors must have informed ye of our coming! Speak, good alien, how long have you known of our coming?"

"Well, let's see. The first settlers from Terra Prime used a jump gate to get here shortly after developing the technology in 2150. So I guess that means we've more or less known you were on your way for the 840 years or so you've been traveling. How do you like what we've done with the place?"

"Can it be? Less than a score of years after our ancestors embarked on the quest of ages, you discovered a mythic star portal and reached our goal of centuries?"

"Um...I guess you could put it that way."
