Teleport weight question

First Post
In the Target part of teleport it says "You and touched objects or other touched willing creatures weighing up to 50 lb./level". Does "You" include your gear for free, or does your gear count against "touched objects"? In the latter case, do you leave behind the stuff deep in your backpack? What would happen if you decided to take a friend along on the teleport? Would some of his equipment stay behind since you probably couldn't touch it all, or does the equipment count against his weight? And if your friend's equipment is added to his own weight, do you have the option to leave his equipment behind so as to take him with you? And if he is too heavy, does your spell fizzle (for you as well)? I am uncertain of how precisely all this works, and would appreciate some input.

The "You" in the Teleport description simply refers to your own body (minus all your equipment). Otherwise, you could just strap a friend to your back and call him equipment ;-)

So the 50 lbs/level includes your equipment and any friends + their equipment. There is no possibility of teleporting just your friend's equipment w/o your friend or vice versa, it's either all or nothing.

However, you may use Teleport offensively to grab someone's weapon or other object in their possession and try to leave. In this case they would get a Will save to resist the 'port.

To answer your other questions, your friend would probably have to strip to his undies if you wanted to carry just him w/o equipment. And if you go over the max weight limit, I would rule that you 'port out along with the maximum weight that you can carry. Anything else is SOL.

Your gear counts against the 50 lbs per level limit.

Your friends body counts against the 50 lbs per level - as well as their gear.

Your own body doesn't count towards the limit.

Trying to teleport more than you are legally allowed causes your friend and their gear to be left behind.
