Tell me about Arcanis

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy Arcanis - it's the setting we play in while my players wait patiently for me to update my homebrew from OD&D to d20.

Also, I don't think it has been mentioned, but in the Codex at least, Gnomes are Medium sized, not small (another change from the core rules)

any more information about this Eric?

It will be called: "Year of Ill Harvest" and it will compile the following retired year one Living Arcanis adventures:

"So Shall You Reap"
"Temptations of the Flesh"
"Bargains of Spirit and Flesh"
"Seeds of Destruction"
"I Know Thee, Brother"
"Drinking Deeply From the Chalice of Midnight"
"Reap the Whirlwind"
"Assault Upon the Gate of Tears"

The same team we currently have working furiously on Magic of Arcanis and our summer convention events will be compiling, editing and modifying these adventures for home play.

Oh man, I squealed like a schoolgirl when I saw this! Having joined the living campaign only recently, I never got to join in the festival of harvester headkicking that these mods reportedly were. Thanks guys, this is more than enough for me to forgive you for "Pebble on Still Water" and "Fractured Souls"!

Eric,

Though I've boycotted Paradigm for a few years now, this is something I'd actually pick up.
I loved the year 1 modules. Is there a street dated yet? Or is it just in the planning stage?

Wow!

Uh...our Story Hour spans all but one of these adventures. Don't read it if you plan to play this!

What didn't you like about "Pebble Upon Still Water" and "Fractured Souls"? (Please mark any spoiler comments with the appropriate tag so as not to ruin the mods for other LA players.) I thought those were both good modules. Granted, I'm biased, seeing as how I edited them, but any constructive criticism is always appreciated.

And yeah, I am really excited about "Year of Ill Harvest." Since Eric broke radio silence I feel like I can actually admit that it's going to exist now. Woohoo! :D

Talk to you later --

[Edit: Fixed name of "Pebble Upon Still Water". You'd think I would know the names of our modules better than that... and mildly spam-proofed my e-mail address.]

Pebble Upon Still Water was a damn good mod, and I enjoyed it. I just hold a grudge against the module (not the writers) because of that last encounter.
Sweet sword chucking Jesus, the Il-Huan are nasty! Being rended three times in one combat and seeing your party LITERALLY 3 hp from a TPK when the last one of those horrors falls could create a grudge in anyone though!

"Fractured Souls" is from all reports, a very good module, but my friends who played it at a recent Con here in Melbourne have informed that that it's a strict no-go zone if you have the [Tainted] subtype. And as a Tainted Keeper of Sarish, that cuts my character out. Now, while I'm an advocate for storyline and all, summarily cutting what appears to be a large number of players out of a mod, based on their race/class choice, sits ill with me personally. At least its not an Anchor Point though, and I can get some benefit if I go ahead and burn it.

On the whole though, you guys are doing an ace job! My only other wish is that we in Australia get a BA at some point, but I'm not holding my breath. Looking forward to the home play editions of "The Convocation" and "How the Mighty Have Fallen"!

Testemony from another Arcaniac

I can only agree with all that has been posted here about Arcanis. It is this campaign that brought me back into gaming. I know the Miami members of Team Paradigm and I can say with out hesitation that these guys are into telling epic stories in their games. They are always available via their listserve on Yahoo at LA Talk. That's where discussion of world events and the religous/political climate goes on. PCI is always quick to respond to the players concerns. I own everything PCI has published and the story of the world of Arcanis is spread among them all. What you really need to play a basic game of Arcanis is the PHB, the Character Creation Guide (CCG) and the Living Arcanis Rules Compilation (LARC) which can be down loaded at LA TAlk or Onaraonline. Welcome to the World of Shattered Empires. I hope you find it as captivating as I have.

Respectfully,

Edward Kopp
