Tell me about Ptolus

3. Gods: all deities except Lothian seem somewhat one-dimensional to me. I would like to replace them with more Anglo-Saxon (Norse influenced British gods) and Roman gods.
Seems easy enough to do. But which are they: Angl0-Saxon, Norse or British gods? Or a mish-mash of all three?

I guess you could make a case that the Norse and Anglo-Saxon gods are essentially the same crew with slightly different names and myths.

No problem.

In our multi DM one we replaced the old gods with the Greyhawk pantheon and only used select new gods of Monte's as they came up in the Banewarrens (Father Claw and Jodan)

In my solo DM games using Ptolus I added in the FR gods as the new gods main continental pantheon.

In mine the new god faith bureaucracy that Lothian took over was Amanautor's.
4. City of Ptolus: lots of evil--the Spire and Dark Reliquary---in one place. Yet no one seems particularly upset or concerned. Huh.
Most of the populace does not realize the danger.

The Church of Lothian does, it advocated against building Dalenguard near the Spire and later against expanding into a city. It established a presence in Ptolus to try to keep a lid on things, including having a number of special orders of the church there to deal with the issues.

6. Galchutt. (a) They are trapped in this world and can do icky, evil, vile things. But they do not completely destroy or rule the world. Why?

Because they are trapped and partially bound by the world they do not have their full destructive power. Praemal was created as a trap for them that worked. Their big plan of escape and destruction is the Night of Dissolution.

Ptolus is SO good, i'm thinking about incorporating it into a 4e campaign. Not sure how much work that would mean for me though. I'd have to convert a helluva lot of monsters, but at least that's fairly easy to do in 4e.
