Tell me about your favorite game store

A local chain the Fantasy Shop is the best locally. I wouldn't call them great just good. Staff is decent, they are good about getting stuff when you order it in a timely manner. But the big thing is they know to compete with online stores they got to do more than just sell stuff.

So they have a auction every 3-4 months. You can bring in your game stuff and hand it over to the store. Then they auction it off. What ever it goes for is what you get in store credit. It is a win for everyone. Gamers can unload their old stuff, or find good bargins on stuff they want at the auction. While the store gets paid cash for the auction items which they never owned and gives away store credit in return.

But for every good store I know of, i know of at least 5 really badly run stores. Including one run by my brother a few years back till he went out of business.

I also have to give a shout out to The Rusty Scabbard in Lexington, KY. (They don't appear to have a site, so that's a link to a Google map.)
I also have to speak up about how great The Rusty Scabbard is (informally known as "Rusty", or "The Scabbard" among local gamers).

It's pretty much everything I could ask for in an FLGS. The staff is helpful and knowledgable, the selection (for dice, CMGs, traditional metal minis, RPG's, CCG's, and board games, including a decent-sized used books section) is about as good as you could believably get at any Brick & Mortar store (dedicated bookcases for WoD and GURPS, and an entire wall of D&D), there is a good "community" feel to it with lots of wargames and RPGs often being held at the tables in the back, and it's the only FLGS (or honestly, place in the real world) I've seen many of the smaller RPGs discussed on ENWorld like C&C or M&M on the shelf.

I don't get to go there as often as I used to, even though I live about 5 minutes away, but when I was there a couple of weeks ago it was good that the staff still remembered me and I saw that the place was pretty much as good as ever.
