Man-thing
First Post
Recently it was announced by Phillip Reed that they had released their 200th product with an accompanying prize. So I was thinking what do you do with Ronin Arts pdfs in your game?
Two of my most recent evil GM acts (although the list of vile acts is starting to become daunting).
1) Treasure of a different kind
One of my PC had the gall to suggest that they did not receive enough treasure per level and that's why they failed to meet challenges (poor equipment his argument; poor planning mine). Anyway while trapped on Gehenna after falling through a colour pool storm in the Astral. To their dismay they found their bags of holding did not function on this layer, so treasure becames something they had to be selective about. But, because I may at times be somewhat stingy with my treasure allotment I provide a fairly difficult encounter with poorly hidden rewards. My players have gotten pretty complacent about treasure (magic pile, gold pile, gem pile sort of adventurers) so I knew I need something special. So I turned to Ronin Arts' 101 Mundane Treasures
Crown of the Medusa: A hideous piece of art, this crown is large and heavy,
with a dozen sculpted snakes rising in a ring around it. The snakes all
leer forward, mouths open, metal teeth glistening. The eyes of the
snakes are small green gemstones. Value: 10,500 gp Weight: 22 lbs.
and
Dwarven Stone Drums: Four large (24”) stone drums mounted to a wheeled cart [broken] that is designed to be pulled. The drums are ornamented with dwarven runes, silver and gold designs, and other minor artistic embellishments. The cart, constructed completely of stone, is in excellent condition. Value: 16,475 gp Weight: 2,560 lbs.
Thus I was content that I had provided more than enough treasure for that encounter. They did take the Medusa Crown and carried the whole run of the campaign. They assumed it was a plot device and refused to part with it and went to great lengths to protect it.
2) The Escort Mission
My PC's hate escort/guard missions in fact in opening negotitation they will often now ask what they should do is the caravan does not reach X. So they've signed up to protect a caravan moving a noble lady from one city to another through the hills plagued by goblins. Sadly this mission ended in humilation and defeat at the PCs did not heed early warning of foul magics.
For foul magics I turned to Ronin Arts' A Dozen Disgusting Spells to create goblins armed with scrimshaws of vacate bowels and a few others for A Dozen Troublsome Spells (scrimshaw spell from The Game Mechanics). Demoralize and smelly the "heroes" we unable to prevent the ladies abduction and had to sulk back to town. (They need some supplies before vowing revenge.)

So how do you use Ronin Arts stuff?
