Actually Ricimer the reason for meetings at High Noon or sunset etc is because those were the ONLY times that everyone knew simply because the concept of 'regular time intervals' had not been invented.
Yes I too can tell time by the sun (and by the moon too btw) but thats because you and I are use to such regular intervals which equate the 15degrees to 1 hour.
You could say 'lets meet when the sun is 45degrees from Zenith' but Mid-afternoon sounds much better and somehow I suspect thats how the 'standard' character would tend to view time too
