Telling your Game buddys to shut up!

Threser, great work on introducing people to the game.

I wish I had more energy to do something like that but I'm more into playing, not teaching, and my patience is very limited.

I swear to God, it is the only topic of conversation they can engage in.
I know what you mean. I work with one such person, and I have to listed to him talk about his 'Dark Elf Shadow Knight' EVERY SINGLE DAY at break time. So much to that I felt compelled to flay him alive with the 2,700 PSI Water Power Washer I was holding ten minutes later.

He also spends all of his money on LAN gaming and fast food, and he's NEVER going to get a raise at the rate he's going, so I think I'll just sit back and watch him slowy decay.:D

I dunno, I have a slight bit more respect for people who talk about their EQ characters than those who play DnD. Mostly because I've played the game a lot (also holds true for DnD), but more because it takes a lot of time and effort to get to high levels. If my friend wanted to talk about how he just got his enchanter up to level 48, I'm not going to begrudge him that, because it just means I could beg him for some Plat next time I was on (I quit a while ago... level treadmill got boring).

For this they earn your respect?

You must really hold those 1300lb people who need to have the sides of their buildings cut off to go to the hospital in high regard as well. I mean, look at all the time and effort it took to pack away a quarter of a million donuts to the exclusion of everything else in their lives!

:)

Right now, our problem is with a guy who _used_ to play EQ and now plays 1942 (or whatever it's called). He's fine by himself, but we used to have another guy in the group who played, too. _Every_ time the DM stopped to look up a room description or some such, they'd drop into on-line mode. Major buzz-kill.
