Rules Cyclopedia (BECM)
Priests Spell Compendium 1-3 (2E)
Wizards Spell Compendium 1-4 (2E)
Encyclopedia Magica 1-4 (2E)

Okay, that's eleven...but there is enough D&D playability to last multiple lifetimes there.

1. Chainmail
2. D&D original box set
3-6. Supplements 1-4
7. Wilderness Survival
8. Wooden Ships & Iron Men
9-10. Monster Manual I & II

#2's a cheat, I know. But all those are really important to have for me.

I'd also love to add in 1E's treatment of Deities & Demigods.

1 - 2E Monstrous Manual
2 - 3.5 Monster Manual
3 - 4E dungeon master guide...

...wait, who I'm kidding? Insert 10 Planescape books here and I'll be fine :)

1. D&D (BECM) Rules Cyclopedia
2. D&D 4E Rules Compendium
3. Pathfinder Core Rulebook
4. Pathfinder Bestiary
5. D&D 4E Heroes of the Fallen Lands
6. AD&D 2E Player's Handbook
7. AD&D 2E Monstrous Manual
8. D&D 4E Monster Manual
9. D&D 3.5E Spell Compendium
10. D&D 3.5 Rules Compendium

My recommendations are purely selfish, of course, and heavily dependent upon the campaign that I'm currently running...

1. Pathfinder Core Rulebook - my currently-favored campaign ruleset;
2. Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide - for my players to tinker with;
3. Pathfinder Bestiary - for me (the DM) to tinker with;
4. Shackled City Adventure Path - our base campaign, Cauldron as a backdrop;
5. Savage Tide Adventure Path - providing customizations and possibly a different endgame to the SC campaign, depending upon what the players do;
6. Ptolus - providing custom details of the continent's largest city;
7. Heroes of Horror - adding rules and surprises
8. Book of Vile Darkness - adding even more rules and surprises
9. Magic Item Compendium - adding unusual items for ever-greedy PC's
10. Draconomicon - providing details and "color" for the various dragons that the PC's have, and will, encounter.

I'd need these for our game to survive the apocalypse.

I have no idea what other three books else I would save.
