D&D General Tentacles, Golems and wall of force

Hello

I'm reaching the end of a campaign (Drakkenheim, highly recommended). The following has mild spoilers for the final battle. We did "round 1" of the fight and kept the rest of the fight for the next session. Something strange happened, and I wouldn't mind advice on how to rule this.

I've created an image to help illustrate - this is a "side view" diagram

So a 10 foot tall golem is grappled by a gargantuan blob with tentacles from a range of 40 feet. The golem is grappled and cannot move forward, and thus cannot punch the blob. 2 questions.

1: Can the golem attack the tentacle, thus inflicting damage on the blob?

2: A mage raised a 20 foot tall wall of force right in front of the golem (edit: this doesn't reach the ceiling). What happens to the grapple?

Thank you for your insight!

1) Is a common case that is still not precisely covered by the rules with no real RAW or RAI consensus on the matter, but the community tends to say "yes, you can attack the tentacle."

2) Is there no reason the blob's tentacle couldn't just stretch up and over the wall? I could also imagine that the golem would be pulled a few feet off the ground and left dangling.

The wall of force.

When it is created and cuts through a creatures space, it allows the creature to be on one side or the other. But this means the creature's arms are not counting on its space since we do not count this. A PC takes up a 5ft space and not adding his polearm to give him a 15ft space. Same with this blob. I would allow the PC to pull back his polearm to his side of the wall when it is created, so I would allow the blob to do the same thing, ending the grapple. It could be cool to cut the tentacles off like a lightsaber just sliced them and allowing the PCs to now see a wall of force. This could leave the thing grappled, but with a big bonus to escape and the blob being able to grow more the next round.

Since nothing can pass through the wall, I would not let the thing still grapple or be able to reach through the wall. Maybe allow it to move closed and reach over on the next round might work.
