Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles S01E05 - Queen's Gambit

So, who else did watch this episode? What do you think?

I enjoyed the whole episode, and I am looking forward to the next one.

Good pieces:
- I liked the scene with the counselor and Cameron. Did anyone else get the vibe that he might have something to do with the death of the girl?
- The scene where Cameron is writing the note (presumably for the Terminator she killed).
Okay, I admit it, maybe I just like Summer Glau. :)

Interesting:
- The "lose hand" - can this lead to a new Cyberdyne development? Or will the Agent put into Forensics and it will never leave that?

Bad Pieces:
- Luckily, it was just a throw-away line, but I found it a bit laughable that John could so easily get into the Police Computer. But hacking in TV and movies is always easier. (And it least he hadn't a gun to his head and a women "working" on him, and had to crack a 128 Bit Encryption using a 3D-Graphics powered hacking tool. :) )

I thought John was like some super-hacker and it was this which had gotten him into lots of trouble and why earlier on his mother had forbid him from touching computers.

*Was*.
But how far into the future did they jump? Like 10 years or more wasn't? I don't think even the best hacker from the late 90's would be quite up to speed after a few days in 2007.

Loved it. The next episode looks very interesting, too. There is only one thing that I'm nervous/possibly disappointed about. If The Turk really does turn out to be SkyNet (or even just the 'core' of SkyNet), I'll be a tad put-off, as it's not very impressive that a lousy intern at Cyberdyne is the one able to create that massive AI - I have very high doubts that an intern would have been given access to the code and development based on the T-800's chip and hand, much less having access to the chip and hand themselves! (See that insanely high security in T2.) But it's only a minor quibble, and there's lots of opportunities for them to clear things up and explain stuff (which is what I love).

These guys did their homework and are really doing what they can to capture the "feel" of the show. Even something as small as the nomenclature - it totally makes sense, and adds to the show and its mythology - such as those from the future calling the Terminators by their model numbers (eg. "Triple 8", as in a T-888 model). Very, very cool.

As for the hacking: Yeah, it's TV-Land hacking. He was supposed to be a super-hacker originally, so he's still "got it". Yay, TV.

I didn't catch just what it was that the girl who killed herself was so upset about... something about graffiti?

There were graffiti images of the girl making out with someone that was evidently a teacher. In addition, I believe you saw her bra in her hand in one of the pictures, indicating that it was pretty serious. Also, each door showed more of the name on the door. She said something to Cameron along the lines of "my parents are going to kill me".

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Grief Counselor was the other end of that relationship. He heard that Cameron was the last to talk to the jumper and was trying to find out what (if anything) was said about his identity.

The first paragraph is fact. The second is speculation. :)

My speculations are similar. Interesting question might yet to figure out who made those graffiti images (and if he's "happy" now?). I guess this and the "mysterious girl" (that John obviously finds attractive) will be side-plots accompanying us for a while, interjecting "normal" human drama in the "Stop Skynet" plot-line.
