I'm planning to start a Testament (Biblical Era Role Playing) game here on the boards, and wanted to get some feedback on the general concept before I put much work into it.
Here's the idea:
The historical background for the campaing comes, in many respects, strait from the Bible, but diverges at a key point, with the characters being part of the cast of the "alternate Bible" (not what I'd call it, but that's what it would be, in effect) that would result. In game, this would potentially change the course of a good deal of Biblical history and Judaism itself, possibly threatening the religion's survival. YHWH would also be treated as something less than omnipotent in this game.
I ask about this only because of board rules concerning religion, politics etc. In some circles (such as my father-in-law's), even pretending about this sort of thing would be considered offensive or heretical, and I wanted to see if it would be okay here . Also wanted to guage interest. (If it matters to anyone, I am a practicing Christian, and would be portraying things I don't personally believe about my own religion as well, but I'm theologically content with that. Just testing other's and the board's sensitivities and interest on the matter.)
Thanks,
Ian
