Testing Caster Interrupt Variant

Round 2 End:

Evard successfully resists the cloud of ick and casts fly, lifting himself over the roiling cloud of yuck. Mook is laid out in the middle, but is oblivious to the smell. Cohen the Barbarian and Angel Summoner race to the other side to escape the hellish fart vapors.

Round 3:

(From previous post's rolls, & we forget the tentacle damage!) The demons and ooze fail to escape Evard's tentacles. Dretch 5 attempts to summon another dretch, but none of the cowardly creatures comes to his call, so he skitters over a bit. Dretch 4 also moves.

Managed to bork those a bit so I will summarize:

No enemies escaped the tentacles this round.

Cumulatively, Arrow Demon 1 has received (1 + 0) 1 damage. Arrow Demon 2 has received (3 + 0) 3 damage. The Conflagration Ooze has received (7 + 6) 13 damage. Dretch 1 has received ([5-1]+[6-1]) 9 damage. Dretch 2 has received ([5-1]+[5-1]) 8 damage. Dretch 3 has received ([2-1]+[5-1]) 5 damage.

Hold on, I think we may have made a mistake. Shouldn't I be rolling the opposed grapple checks for
1) the damage the tentacles do on my turn
and
2) escape the demons make on their turn?

In hindsight, this really was not the best spell to cast on a large group of enemies when playing a PbP due to the large number of dice rolls involved and I apologize for it.

Look, I think it would be easier if you just rolled for all parties with a d20 in real life and just post the results. This is getting really complicated.

I suppose my actions for round three will depend on how the grappling goes, as someone might get three. So yeah, we'll probably need to figure this out...

Well, no one got out of the grapple this round regardless. I thought that since you weren't rolling the damage, I was supposed to. e.e So I just went for it. I'll just roll the regular dice here, yes yes.

Ok, good.

I shall continue and list my spells for the turn.

Evard casts "Slow" while Cohen charges to O7 and Angel Summoner charges to P8. I believe this to be a legal move given their movement speeds.

They gain +2 to attack and -2 to AC.

They will both swing at the arrow demon at D10.

Hm. I think that trip attempt might have failed, in which case the arrow demon gets to make his own trip check.

Blargblarg. I just sorted out the map. Cohen can strike an arrow demon with his guisarme at that coordinate, but Angel Summoner can't land a melee attack with his morningstar (no range increment). Also, there's no demon at D10. There's one at C10, but that's on the other side of the map. A little more south and they can both strike an arrow demon.

To overcome the arrow demons' spell resistance, Evard must succeed against SR 18.

For ease: The arrow demons' AC is 19 (obviously there's a bonus for being pinned by the tentacruels). The conflagration ooze AC is 22. The dretches' AC is 16. [Obviously I should have slapped some armor on everyone.]

Mook is subject to confusion for 10 rounds. Seven rounds of confusion remain. (Conflagration ooze uses this spell-like ability at CL 10th.)

I'm not sure that the grappled demon can retailiate against a trip attempt... Can you trip someone who's pinned?

They shall do that next round!

Also, I'm not sure Cohen can strike anyone where he is currently at, as the arrow demon seems to be 15 feet away, unless it's Large. I will roll an attack in case it is.

I will need you to tell me what his confusion results before I can have him act.

There's no rule that says you can't...
Way I see it, being pinned is not necessarily the same as being tripped. You can pin someone to a wall, for instance, yet still have them upright. And for anyone who has ever seen tentacle porn...

Yeah.
