I'm...fairly sure that effective "take 20" rules still exist. They take the form of "if there's no consequence for failure, the character can automatically succeed if they take 10x the time it would normally take to accomplish the task."
Right. If no useful information will come out of a roll, don't require one.

Sure, if there is no uncertainty, the DM doesn't call for a roll. I didn't say the concept didn't exist, I was point out how out-of-touch they are by using a gaming term that hasn't been around for multiple editions.
