Texas 30, Baltimore 3

The Cubs may be the biggest heartbreak team of all time, but the Rangers are a shoe-in to me for second place.

My Phillies are up there, too. Nothing like having a great team that is capable of sweeping the league leaders and then losing 2 of 3 to the bottom of the league.

Of course, this year is quite different. At one point we could almost field a playoff contender team just from the disabled list.

Ah, but the Rangers have only been doing it for 35 years or so. The Phillies and Cubs have over 100 years of misery inflicted on their fans.

Besides, we Rangers fans are tougher stock.

We love our Rangers even though we know for a fact that they're going to fold. Around here, only the most die-hard fans actually predict the Rangers will compete late in the season.

Shouldn't there be a limit to the lead before calling off the game. That's insane!
Back in the 70's I was listening to a Phillies/Cubs game in the afternoon. I turned it off when the Phils were ahead something like 15-6. We did things in the afternoon, my brother went to his little league game, and on the way home about 6ish we turned on the radio. The game had just ended after going into extra innings with the Phillies winning 23-22!

It's not over until it's over (especially with the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field).

This game looks like the match for the one you just described:

Ouch, both starters were pulled after only 1/3 of an inning each!

Yeah, that's it.

What I think is funny is the "Wind 18mph in unknown direction" bit. Hint: It was blowing OUT! :)

One other funny thing about this game. This was back in the days when every game wasn't televised (yes, I know, the stone age). Chicago did, but Philly didn't televise this game. About a week later they got the Chicago tape, had Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalas do commentary and played it for Philadelphia.

This might have been the first "rerun" of a baseball game.

Two straight loses to the Devil Rays...sigh...all hope is lost. Let's hope they get some boost to the roster in the off season.
