Thank god the boards are back up! So what feat for 12th cleric.

So I've got a 6th level cleric, 6th level radiant servant of Pelor.

He's got maxed out spellcraft, concentration, K(religion), and K(planes).

He has Education, Strong Soul, Extra Turning, Quicken Turning, and Karmic Twin as feats already with Sun, Healing, and Glory domains.

The character has absolutely no time to be crafting items so CWI is out (as this could give him the effects of empower turning as well as a host of other cool stuff).

Leadership is also out despite this being pretty cool as well because he is no position to sequester a cohort.

His ability scores are as follows Str 13, Dex 11, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 20, Chr 20 (24). These scores include the appropriate item boosts.

The character winds up having I think 12 turning attempts. I was thinking divine metamagic for quicken spell. D&D is all about the number of actions you get. I'd considered quicken spell but DM lets me quicken higher level spells and I almost never use my turnings. Even when I do, becase I've got the sun domain and the Radiant servant ability (as well as the glory domain) it is a rare situation that I do not destroy all the undead in one swipe with one turning.

Domain spontaneity might also be nice. I just posted on the use of fire seeds and having a few more of those would be really REALLY nice.

I am thinking that I really want some sort of feat associated with burning turn attempts because it is the one resource I never fully tap and such a feat woudl therefore have great synergy with the character.

Because the character is now in a party of 5 other characters, he is mostly support and healer, so I am less interested in Divine Might and Divine Shield although with this guy's chr they would certainly be amazing feats.

Thanks for all your help,

Gaiden

I'd be tempted to take Divine Might. A little extra power is never a bad thing. Domain spontaneity is also a good one and one I've enjoyed having.

What books are allowed in the game?

With your huge bonus to Turning checks, perhaps Divine Spell Power would be useful. Goes great with Greater Dispel Magic for de-buffing, and can get your Flame Strike to 15d6 at level 12. If you roll horribly, you could always cast a non-level dependant spell.

Kiai Shout and Greater Kiai Shout is one route I've always wanted to go, but you'd have to wait til 15 for it's effectiveness to kick in.

Its set in Greyhawk so all core + splat books. My DM has not specifically banned anything in CD or BoED but we use discretion to not allow anything completely broken in.

Drunkmoogle, Kiai Shout is not really in line with the character and divine spell power is a bit costly requiring the expenditure of a turning attmept before you can cast the spell. If I understand it correctly, that means you lose an action effectively to boost a spell cast the next round (unless you have the spell quickened). In the situations I have this character in, he does not have that freedom to lose a round of actions - ever! However, combining Divine Metamagic with Divine Spell Power might be interesting. Then I could burn through turnings to boost the spell as well as cast it in the same round.

Stand alone, the only major use I can see for Divine Spell Power is for buff spells that you cast ahead of time that will be more powerful and harder to dispel. In that case, used with things like magic vestment, and divine favor, it could be very useful.

Crothian, as I said previously, divine might while a great feat is going to be suboptimal for this character as he is not in combat enough for it to matter. His role is mainly as healer and support. Rarely does he get to buff with divine power, righteous might, divine favor, and holy sword (although, when he does he is a force to behold).

Actually arguing for divine might really means arguing for increasing your melee combat prowess. I think a more effective way to increase combat effectiveness would be quicken spell or divine metamagic. Looking at the above list - every spell is on the order of rounds. Quickening some of them will cut the time it takes to buff properly in half which I think is more powerful than an extra 5 or 7 dmg per hit. Also, the cleric does not have power attack.

Divine Vigor or Augment Healing are both very good cleric feats, and would work for this character.

Divine Metamagic has errata saying that it applies to a metamagic feat that you already have.

I agree. Sacred Healing might also be very nice, if your party usually starts encounters at medium range. Fast Healing 3 for the entire party for 8 rounds is very nice.

How about Reach Spell. Convert touch spells to ranged touch spells (max 30ft) for +2 levels in spell slot. Effectively becomes a ray. Defenders of the Faith page 20.
Nice for cure spells or slay living.

Disciple of the Sun?
Improved Turning?
Empower Turning?
Divine Vigour?
Augment Healing?
Quicken Spell and aim for Divine Metamagic?
Domain Spontaneity?

All good stuff.
