Back in the Spelljammer/Dark Sun time, that was (A)D&D's high point. Absolutely amazing stuff! Yesterday I gave most of my 2nd ed stuff to my cousin to sell off on EBay, ran out of space to keep it all, sigh...
Gave my original Greyhawk folio to a die hard GH pal.
But I'm still keeping the main 1st, 2nd, 3rd ed books and stuff I love like the Fiend Folio, Dark Sun & Spelljammer stuff...The Illithiad...Temple of Elemental Evil...

Started playing with my cousin and his pals, who're younger than me (the DM), I was about 18, them 14 or so, we had great fun, still do 22 years later. One of the gang died (musuclar dystrophy) and we still remember his classic moment when he finally was high enough to level to cast it so he said:
"I cast Blade barrier, centred on myself!"
....Oh boy

I am grateful D&D is still around. It has changed radically in the span of 17 years that I've been playing.

D&D may no longer capture the interest of Old Schoolers (I guess I could be counted, I was raised on 1st Edition), but it continues to exist. I look forward to the day when D&D is a neural interface game.
