That freaky little XP thing

Ok, due to a sudden influx of gamer girlfriends, my group has jumped from 4 PC's to 6.

Now, then, this isn't really a problem, since a 50% increase in numbers means an EL bump of +1, the party now has to tangle with encounters one EL higher.

That much I understand.

The part that seems kinda mysterious to me is how to evaluate the XP gained for each encounter now.

Looking at the CR vs. APL vs. XP earned table I find myself wondering where exactly I should be looking for the party.

Should I consider them to be one level higher for purposes of recieving XP for an encounter, or should I consider the APL to be exactly the APL regardless of the number of PCs?

Thanks in advance.

APL stays the same, but XP is divided by 6 instead of 4.

So they have to fight one-and-a-half times as many baddies of the same CR to get the same XP they were getting before.

Right.

I have already sent you my car as a present, but don't scrach it with your filthy eagle claws.

Squeaky-clean eagle claws, thank you very much!

Isn't it better when people accept your being correct as routine?

"Hoo-rah! Hypersmurf got a rules question right! Exactly!! Break out the champagne! Mark the date down on the calendar! Award a trophy! We'll remember this day forever! ... Unless he gets another answer right sometime, in which case the event may lose some of its sparkle ..."

But that's the point... if it were routine, they'd already have their "What Hypersmurf Said" flags all printed up...
