Steeliest of the dragons
Between the "Let's talk D&D" thread (http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/299826-does-anyone-want-talk-about-d-d.html) and a thread I can't find right now to list PC's that bite the proverbial dust in 2011, I thought it would be nice/cool for everyone to share the flip side...characters that "come to life" in 2011.

Any (fantasy) system, any edition. Tell us about your awesome new creation, whether they're fresh outta the box in 2011 or are an older character crossing/coming up on some milestone/doing or done something fantastic in-game this year.

Be interesting to see what characters get you excited from week to week/game to game. Those guys n' gals that make you smile at the table from their amazing (or lack thereof? I know some GREAT characters who were anything BUT "capable heroes" haha.)-ness.

Try some simple format, like:
NAME, game/edition, race/sex, class/level. Cool possessions, weapons, tactics, cool game moments that fill your soul with the utter awesome-titude of your creation.

I'm not looking for total stat breakdown, skill lists and all of that. Just the gist of the character and what makes them great to/for you.

I, myself, haven't had time (or reason) to generate anyone new since the new year began, but I'll be sure to add people of my own as they come up.

Have fun and happy character creation in 2011.

This character is replacing a Guardian druid that I quite frankly grew tired of playing. He'll be making his first in-game appearance this weekend.

Bennock Ironhelm, AKA "Benn"
D&D 4e (Essentials)
Male Dwarf Hunter 7

[sblock=Background]Bennock is a roguish, crossbow-wielding, former tomb robber. He, along with a cadre of other rogues and bandits, recently broke into a long-lost tomb below Hammerfast. Unwittingly, they released a swarm of ravenous undead. Before they could react, everyone who had rushed into the ancient tomb was dying. Only Bennock, careful and cautious as always, survived. Firing bolt after bolt into the fray, Bennock carefully retreated, resealed the tomb behind him, and fled.

Despite his surly demeanor, Bennock's conscience ate at him. He was a coward. He left his former friends to their fate and ran like a child. When word reached him that a group was being assembled to investigate undead attacks on a nearby village, Bennock leapt at the chance to potentially redeem himself. He has avowed to be a better ally to his companions, and to never be a coward again. The next undead he sees will get a crossbow bolt right between the eyes.[/sblock]

My friends and I just created King Beorner (the dwarf Fighter), Greggar (the human Barbarian), Scufflegut (the halfling Rogue), and Rizzit (the drow Sentinel with his re-skinned wolf companion) for a one-shot that our Salvatore-hating GM is running!

Just started this guy out today over on the L4E boards, and so far I'm having lots of fun with my villainous gnome:

Siveris Smythe - D&D 4E, Male Gnome Artificer, Lv 4
Specializes in alchemy, specifically the creation and application of poisons.

[sblock=background]Siveris always thought of himself as a good person. After all, his life's work was healing people with his potions, cures, salves, ointments and unguents. That all changed one day, when he happened to come home early and spot his wife Lucinnia cheating on him with Pyron Glasston, the owner of a rival apothecary, and a human to boot! Rather than barge in on his wife's illicit affair he surreptitiously returned to his shop instead, and began plotting the cold blooded murder of Lucinnia and her overgrown lover.

He immediately tapped his one underworld connection--a smuggler, whose services he'd previously employed to occasionally circumvent tariffs when importing expensive herbs--to procure a specimen of fleshbane, a rare and highly illicit mold known for its uses as a reagent in processes of alchemical disincorporation. Then he set to work for an entire month distilling a poison so potent that a single drop administered by a wooden dart would almost instantly dissolve both its victim and the murder weapon. Two months later Lucinnia disappeared without a trace, and a year after that Pyron Glasston met the same fate.

Having dipped his hands into the dark side of alchemy, and having nothing left to lose, Siveris then took the full plunge. He began procuring and concocting all manner of illegal poisons and narcotics to sell on the black market, and they sold so well that he soon found himself the owner of the most successful apothecary in all of Daunton. Not satisfied with having dispensed with Pyron Glasston though, and having no better use for the money, Siveris began feverishly plotting ways to use his new-found financial success to bring about the ruin of the wealthy and influential Glasston family, thereby completing his revenge.

But then things started to go sour. Last month his import records were subpoenaed and his property seized under suspicion of trafficking in controlled substances, and he himself was very nearly sent to prison. Clearly someone on Daunton's ruling council knows what he did last summer, but who are they, and why don't they simply confront him openly?

Now Siveris needs a quick way to raise money to pay his legal fees, and continue plotting the Glasstons' downfall. With his life worth far less to him at this point than his consuming desire for revenge, the foolhardy career of adventuring with its high risks, but even higher payoffs for the luckly survivors has begun to look very appealing...[/sblock]
