The $40 mark is broken

Unless I missed a book, the $40 "cap" that d20 books seem to have (not counting special editions of books), will be broken with Atlas Games The Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary at $44.99. I made a thread a while back about this, and there were mixed reactions to books going higher than $40. Heck, did I miss a book that broke it already?

Thoughts?

Really? It stopped me buying it.

We've sold out of the first print run (5000) that was released in October and we are having to look at a second print run. I'd say it hasn't been a real issue.

If you compare it to other books, T20 is fairly inexpensive per page at 464 pages.

I know I am a little different, but I don't mind spending over 40 dollars if it is a book that I will really like. I hate even spending 10 on a book that turns out to be okay. I don't think it is really that different then spending 90 on all three of the core books, you really cannot get away with buying just one of them, if you are going to DM.

Was GR's Book of Rightousness and Traveler D20 both above that?

Book of the Righteous is US$39.95.

Personally, at 352 pages I don't think $45 is too much -- assuming it's a good book, of course. I think Book of the Righteous and the FRCS hardcover (both $40 books, both 320 pages, with BotR being B&W and the FRCS being full-color) provide very good value for the money.

$5 for an extra 22 pages -- in what I assume will be a B&W book -- is slightly too much, but not too much to keep me from buying it as long as it's worthwhile.

GR's Book of the Righteous was $39.95. What a great book BTW!I just can't bring myself to buy anymore books that are so high priced. I have to rebudget for the gas prices going up.
