William, Pasteur is in bad shape.
Gustav sorta left the man witless.

Pasteur needs a Restoration spell cast on him.
And then an explanation for why he was kidnapped, taken to this strange world, threatened, and nearly executed by those he was trying to help.

Thanks to this treatment by Gustav, Louis Pasteur is first infuriated, then frightened witless, and finally his mind collapses, and he goes insane.

The Silver Cabal WITHDRAWS it's support, and offers of support, from Toril.

Unless someone talks fast (and does some magical healing as well), Louis Pasteur and the Silver Cabal's aid will be lost to Toril.

The Dauntless formally Denounce Gustav's actions, and demand an explanation for his kidnapping and torturing Louis Pastuer, a man who offered his aid to Toril and the other worlds afflicted with the red death.

The Dauntless also offer a sincere appology to the Silver Cabal.

Such a spell exists, Kalanyr.

If the spell Karsus's Avatar (you need a 40th level mage to cast it) could be recast, with the intention of the Red Death being the beneficiary, it might make the Red Death the supreme deity of Toril.

Arkanyl does not have access to Karsus's Avatar, but there are others who might.
Janos and the City of Shade have some of the workings of the great spell reassembled, and they are working on the rest.

(If Kalanyr somehow succeeds in casting this spell, for this purpose, it is over folks.)

I hope someone has healed Pasteur before they see him (in the state he is currently in.)

Hannover Fist personaly invetigates the events surrounding Pastuer's abduction, and comes to the conclusion that The enity known as the Red Death has been influencing Gustav's mind.

With this suspicion, he scrys the other major players in faerun to determine if they too are being influenced by the Red Death...

Ardan asks Gustav to write a letter explaining his actions, or to show up to apologize. Ardan brings a cleric with him to cast Restoration on Pasteur, and bows low, as if Pasteur were a king and he a subject seeking penance.

"Monsieur Pasteur," Ardan says, trying to pronounce the French honorific, "I must apologize for Gustav's actions. I will offer explanation and pray that you will see to forgive him."

"I believe that Gustav believed that you might not be what you appear. As such, I believe he decided to test your character and motives. While I realize that you did not expect such a test, I believe that you behaved most admirably in extreme stress. There is a word from your world that I will use. You seem to have the patience and virtue of a saint."

"I believe Gustav regrets his action, but he is concerned about the fate of his nation and of Toril. I believe he acted rashly, out of fear. However, is is not written, to err is human, to forgive divine. I ask that you show the maganamity of spirit that lead you and the Silver Cabal to offer your aid."

"If you require restitution, I will seek it on your behalf. I am certain that the Dauntless will aid me in this. In this matter, you may ask any request of me."

"Monsieur Pasteur, I pray that you will aid Toril and the other worlds hit by this plague. Together, our efforts may put an end to the plague and we may find ways to help Earth against the Red Death. For the sake of Toril, Oerth, Krynn, Athas, and your own beloved Earth, do not abandon us. For the sake of all the living, I pray that you will aid us. Do not forsake us. Please forgive Gustav of his rashness. Please aid us in our greatest hour of need. Think of the innocent. Think of the children, monsieur<" Ardan says as he begins to weep.

If Pasteur accepts, I repeat my first post of this thread, modified as follows.



"Most Noble Pasteur, I am fascinated by this your world. I would greatly like to learn more of it, your technology, history, faiths, and philosophies. It seems that the Silver Cabal, and yourself, have done much good for Earth. I beseech your aid in the name of liberty, fraternity, and equality."

"From what I understand, Edward Jenner, if I have the name right," Ardan says, trying to pronounce the name of this English predecessor of Pasteur. "used cowpox to create a vaccine for smallpox."

"While I am new to your techniques, I have some ideas. Might it not be possible to create a vaccine for the plague using a similar, but weaker illness. Perhaps it might even be possible to develop a cure from such a source of illness. We may be able to strike a blow against this Red Death, that may benefit our worlds and others besides."

"Regardless, the Free Nations of Faerun, appreciate your health. I pray for your well being, your success, and the health and happiness of the peoples of Earth. I promise to devote my resources and give my life, if need be to aid Earth in its own struggles. I hold that all of us, whatever our world or form, are all akin in one family of being. I have heard on other worlds of a High God, the True Creator of All Things. In the name of the Eternal, in the name of all that is good, I beseech your help. And offer mine in return to you, and all the peoples of Earth."

William, you were successful.

Pasteur accepts Ardan's words, and the Silver Cabal renews it's offer to the powers of Toril ... excluding Imaskari, which they believe is already under the influence of the Red Death.

Bugbear, you quickly determine that Kalanyr's character, Arkanyl, is now under the influence of the Red Death.
Arkanyl is in real trouble. He needs a restoration spell, and immediate help.

The Oerthians and Krynnish peoples are growing impatient for an explanation as to why Toril unleashed this plague upon their peoples.
If an explanation is not forthcoming soon, they will invade Toril.

The onslaught of the Dragon Kings of Athas continues.
More and more defilers, with hosts of warriors, thri-kreen, and undead, are pouring into the world of Toril.

Communes with Mystra indicate she cannot directly fight the Red Death, as one fighter would battle another fighter.
The Red Death is infecting Mystra the way a virus would infect a human. The best that Mystra can hope for is to fight it off, and that will take time.
Mystra could use some help from her mortal worshippers, she says.
Listen to the Silver Cabal, states Mystra. Do as the Silver Cabal is asking. Let the Enlightened Gnomes unleash their spell.
