If there is anything that Pasteur asks of him, Ardan will do it to the limits of his ability and alignment.

The Athian invaders aren't stopping to read anything.
They seem to have little use for books.

I'm afraid the attempt to stop the Athian invasion in this way fails. My regrets.

Now, those Gates to Athas are supported by magic.
If the magic were torn down, the invaders could not enter Toril.
Of course, the defenders are tearing down the Gates, but the Athians are putting new Gates up.

There is another way to down those Gates - all the Gates - for good. The Contagious Anti-Magic Epic Dweomer of the Enlightened Gnomes.

William, you were successful.

Pasteur accepts Ardan's words, and the Silver Cabal renews it's offer to the powers of Toril ... excluding Imaskari, which they believe is already under the influence of the Red Death.

Bugbear, you quickly determine that Kalanyr's character, Arkanyl, is now under the influence of the Red Death.
Arkanyl is in real trouble. He needs a restoration spell, and immediate help.

The Oerthians and Krynnish peoples are growing impatient for an explanation as to why Toril unleashed this plague upon their peoples.
If an explanation is not forthcoming soon, they will invade Toril.

The onslaught of the Dragon Kings of Athas continues.
More and more defilers, with hosts of warriors, thri-kreen, and undead, are pouring into the world of Toril.

Communes with Mystra indicate she cannot directly fight the Red Death, as one fighter would battle another fighter.
The Red Death is infecting Mystra the way a virus would infect a human. The best that Mystra can hope for is to fight it off, and that will take time.
Mystra could use some help from her mortal worshippers, she says.
Listen to the Silver Cabal, states Mystra. Do as the Silver Cabal is asking. Let the Enlightened Gnomes unleash their spell.

Hannover will try and get a cleric close enough to Kal to give him a greater restoration.

The Dauntless will explain to the reprisenitives of krynn and Oreth the events that lead up to the Red Death being unleashed upon all our worlds. Those who perpetrated the act are no more.


Also, in a secret lab somewhere in Fearun, the gnomes begin working on four more versions of the Anti-Magic spell. One each to disrupt magic on Oreth, Krynn, Athas, and Earth. This is done under the utmost secrecy. Manhattan Project Level Secrecy

Ardan bows politely before Pasteur.

"Perhaps the rest of us can find someway to save the Imaskari. If so, it will be at risk to myself and my people. I graciously accept your aid."

Ardan brings out a medal for Louis Pasteur. "Sir, this medal proclaims you a Hero of the Free Nations of Faerun and an honorary citizen. You and those who work with you have access to me day or night, and are in my people's eternal gratitude. I must depart, but I pray that I will see you soon. I am at your disposal. May the Silver Cabal and Earth be blessed. Perhaps together we can achieve what none could singly."

Ardan, and his accompanying priest, return to Waterdeep. He contacts the leaders of Toril, Krynn, and Athas, offering explanation of what has occurred, and apologize for inadvertent harm. He offers his most elegant praises, and does so in terms that will be appropriate to them. (Thus, the Knights of Solamnia, are praised as valiant servants of Paladine) Ardan promises to offer assistance and relates that a cure is being sought. He asks for peace, and promises to aid their worlds. He asks if they wish to assist in the efforts, and invites them to send those who can be of aid in finding a cure.

Ardan writes an executive order, asking all capable of aiding the Silver Cabal to do so.

Ardan writes Gustav a short letter. "Remember peace."

OoC: This is a pre-written post and may no longer be relevant due to the develpoment of the situation since I wrote it. I started writing it shortly before the "Melkor Pause" in the last thread but thought if unwise to post it at that time. I'll edit it later if it prooves nonsensical, for now I don't have the time to read anything else before I go to work.

I assume that the many nations under my rule also have the combined magical power needed to render the domination magics of my books more resistant to counterspells, dispells and various other countermeasures. If they have that power they will immediately begin to do so. If they don't we will ask the Lantanese Gnomes for mutual assistance and cooperation. We'll distribute the books troughout the lands under my rule and other lands that could still, possibly, fall under my rule. As a gesture of good will I will cease distributing my books in the Lands of the Dauntless, Janos and the Imaskari (EXEPT in those countries that are close to falling under my influence!). I will, however, intensify the battles against regressionist forces in my lands, the Devils, and other disruptive influences (also in my lands) . The people in my territory affected by the confusion or other ill effects of contradicting Book-Dominations will in the greatest possible extent be treated and (hopefully) cured from the negative effects. Then they will once again be warned about the dangerousness of reading any book not approved by my censors . The governing forces of the Meritocracy (that is, the people who have the merits to rule ) will attempt to aquire all the books written by other authors for extremely CAREFUL study, to learn the contents of those books but not be dominated by them.

Question: You have put the Western Heartlands under my control. What cities and countries are part of that? Not Waterdeep or Evereska, or Baldur's Gate?

edit: Well, it seems some of this post is still relevant so ill let it stand as is. Just imagine (for the sake of continuity, not to affect the DMs judging) that it was posted before Edena paused the old thread.

Ardan courteously and graciously greets any representatives of Oerth, Krynn, and Athas who accept his offer.

He stands in a great hall in Waterdeep, with several invited representatives of the Silver Cabal.

"Most noble representatives of the nations and peoples of Oerth, Krynn, and Athas, I great you in the spirit of brotherhood and mutual cooperation. A great evil was unleashed by fools seeking absolute power in this world, and no doubt other worlds as well."

"While I was not responsible for this evil, I grieve for your losses. I swear by all that I hold sacred that I will devote my resources and that of my people in finding a cure to the plague. I swear to devote my fortune, my life, my sacred honor, and my soul, if need be to save all our worlds."

"I ask that you work with us in finding a cure. I know that you are angry and hurt. However, we can do much more together than we can separately. The history of all our worlds shows that when the wise and the mighty work together against a common threat, they can do what many have called impossible."

"I urge that all of us work together. I ask forgiveness for the harm done to your worlds. I ask that we stand as one against a common threat. Together, we can find a cure."

"I thank all of you for your aid in this dark hour. If there are any questions, the representatives of the Silver Cabal and I will answer them. Together, we can aid our worlds."

Serpenteye, the Gnomes of Lantan have been beat, and we have BIGGER problems now. Well written post, though.

All domination books sent to the Free Nations are destroyed.

Arkanyl is hiding out on the Plane of Faerie under a Mind Blank, if Bugbear has a way to find him then he does and the restoration is cast.

Otherwise Arkanyl will start making random attacks at very places in the world in order to get the experience required to cast Karsus's Avatar.
