Just musing here, but I think there's a lot of out-of-college and older gamers out there. Just look at these boards - there's a lot of married folk on here, and I'd say the average age of the poster on ENWorld is around 25+. Also, look at pictures from cons and stuff - there's nearly zero 15-year olds there, they're mostly in their 20's or 30's (as near as one can tell from pictures). Perhaps that just means that younger gamers don't have the desire or means to attend cons and whatnot, but maybe not.

Also, I've definitely met a lot more RPG players in university than I ever did in high school, but then I grew up in a hole ;)

LS, judging by this thread:

...most of EN World has been PLAYING for 25+ years.

When I think D&D I think of college students. This was generally true through my entire gaming experience, when I was and when I was not in college.

Obviously that is not the ENWorld populace.

Haha, to be honest, I'm not surprised. Most of the folks around here are not spring chickens any more, and I have a tendency to be conservative ;)

I will say, however, that I think the population of ENWorld is towards the higher end as far as gamer ages go. I imagine that if you ran a similar poll on rpg.net or somesuch you'd get a much lower average age. Of course, that isn't to say that there isn't a significant amount of from-the-beginning gamers out there.

I'm 30 myself, playing since junior high, so that poll painting me as being in the n00b-iest 25% of EN World was surprising to me. But yeah, there ARE lots of... "veterans" here. :)

WOTC's stats put the average age of their players in the 30s.
Which about agrees with the average of the crew I game with here...a large range (11-48) averaging in about the mid-30's.

Which, by the way, makes it very hard for me to vote in this poll, as I'm not sure if our average is above or below 35 (the cutoff between two options) and am too lazy to figure it out. :)
