D&D 5E The Basic D&D pdf

Full explanation later, but no, this is completely rubbish oversimplification when it comes to MMO launches and server issues, and I will provide examples.

Sigh. People get so upset when their theories are proven wrong, and prove absolutely zero evidence to back it up. Enjoy your tinfoil hat, my friend, I'm done speaking with you.

Enjoy your tinfoil hat, my friend, I'm done speaking with you.

This is the first post (of your two total) that you've made to him, and his first post in this thread. Are you confusing him with someone else on another messageboard somewhere? Because you haven't been speaking to him.

That observation aside, please do not call other users names. And Ruin Explorer, you were pretty rude in your post, too; please watch your delivery. There's more than one way to say "I disagree" and "this is completely rubbish oversimplification" isn't the one we'd encourage here.

Er, I'm not the one you were responding to, dude. The problem I'm concerned with isn't one of conspiracy, it's one of you oversimplifying a complex issue to a ridiculous degree, and to the point where it's actively inaccurate.

Put very simply, big issue is that queuing has been shown to do virtually no harm to a game's long-term popularity, but providing a large number of servers and them then emptying out is hugely problematic.

Sadly, "old school art" has just come to mean "crap art" IMO. Every product I see that uses "old school art" seems to take the bad, and leave the good. Nothing up to the standards of Roslof, Trampier, Holloway, Truman, Easley/Elmore's B&W, or even Otus (sorry, I know old-shoolers largely consider him to be the god of OS art, but I'm not really a fan).

I love good, old-style B&W interior art, but I think it's very rare, and not found in OSR products.

Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea has Awesome-oldschool art.

That... sounds both devious and plausible.

Have you worked in marketing before?

I can neither confirm nor deny my professional ability to goad markets into action. ;)

I didn't respond to KM's post because it read like a joke to me, but I'm not surprised someone took it seriously.

If I jam my tongue any further in this cheek it is going to come out my ear.

Let's put it this way, if they really wanted to gum up the servers intentionally and not fix any problems, they would release at 12:00 AM EST and not wait until business hours begin in the Pacific time zone.

What, while everyone's asleep?! Nah, the nefarious scheme isn't to just gum up the works, its to get people talking about how the gummed up works are halting their access and still letting out a trickle of information via the people who manage to get in before/while things are going pear-shaped. For that you need an audience, and midnight ain't got that audience. But by 9 AM on the West Coast (afternoon on the East), you've got the whole nation awake, a lot of fans sitting at desks, and a lot of clicks on that "refresh" button.

FWIW, I don't imagine anyone is consciously gunning for this, but I DO imagine that this will be something of the practical effect circa 9 AM PST tomorrow. ;)
