It's a chick flick that I can watch, and that never friggin happens!

Lord of the Rings has now surpassed the original Star Wars trilogy for me. I also like the Matrix movies which the more you understand the different levels of the movie the better it becomes. The rest is as follows:

Since the movies were filmed in Italy, I wonder which titles are correct, the english or the italian. The english sounds better to me.

I agree with many of the movies listed, if I was picking favorite movies. For the best movie ever, however, I have to go with Schindler's List. A truly awesome experience.

I don't think you can translate them directly like that (except the last, the Italian version even has the characters appear in that order if I remember correctly).

Edit: oh sorry it was the Italian trailer that caused the name change.

Imdb lists them with the Italian names anyway.

I'm not sure I can pick one movie I prefer, but if you held a gun to my head and made me pick one, I think I'd pick Return of the King EE. Without coercion?... the whole LOTR trilogy, Star Wars original trilogy, Indiana Jones trilogy, Jurassic Park (only the first one), Aliens....

Well, I thought about the original Star Wars, the LOTR trillogy, et al, but I simply like those because they're the best in the genre, and they possibly have the best stories...

But, for Best Movie Ever, I'm going to nominate what I personally think you should be required to watch to graduate high school...

The Big Lebowski

It's got The Dude, man! Nuff said. Oh, and nihilists. Oh, and one of the best representations of flying-dreams I've ever seen. The list goes on and on. Oh, and it's got too many subtleties to count.

As a movie, it's got everything. It's cinematic poetry; from the bowling sequence at the beginning to the dialogue, and the narrator, everything is perfect.

The Boondock Saints - cult classic by Troy Duffy; I love it but many hate it. Has the most awesome ending I've ever seen in any movie.

The Shawshank Redemption - very well done. Most have seen it; the soliloquies were all very inspiring and simultaneously bone-chilling.

The Matrix - being a sci-fi fan, this movie has the best plot I've ever seen. Part of its success was its lack of funding; no one knew what the plot was about and thus made the movie that much more amazing. The first time watching, it really gripped me - it wasn't just plausible, it could be happening right now! Anyway, the influx of funding was a large contributer to the failure of other, *unrelated* Wachowski ventures.
