The Best Of D20 Modern

LPJ Design on rpgnow has a large number of D20M based pdfs. I picked up The Little Black Drug Book, Dope Fiends, Modern Chemistry and Modern Maladies for Gamma World (drugs and diseases should be used in a serious GW setting). All of them are well written (esp the latter two- Neil knows how to puts words to paper) and the only downside is there are no tables of content- not that it really matters for short pdfs.

And I second the 2 22 talent trees from Bloodstone. Some are meh, but some are very useful.

Modernized isn't defunct. The layout guy/editor in chief is a full time college student who does the 'zine in his free time.
Issue #3 nears completion even now.

Various pdf's from Ronin Arts are pretty good. I like the monster specific ones like Vampire and Werewolf.

Also, Blood and Fists is an awesome supplement.

Blood and Fists and Modern Players Companion are probably the two books I would recommend after the core book.

Blood & Fists II and Blood & Brains are two more great resources. Blood & Relics is a REAL d20 modern setting.

Menace Manual is a great, idea-laden resource as well.

Red Star is a little off the beaten path for d20 modern, but it's bee-yoo-ti-ful and intriguing.

I'll give a plug to Grim Tales, which on the whole isn't strictly a d20 modern book, but has some great expansions to the talent trees.

I'll put in my vote for:

Modern Player's Companion (I & II)
Modern Backdrops
The entire Blood & XXX series
Menace Manual

I know I'm forgetting some. We have a home brew magic system, so I can't vouch for things like Modern Magic. I'll see if I can point the rest of my group this-a-way.

And BTW, if you have a RBDM, do NOT get a copy of Call of Chthulu. It WILL be used against you

I don't understand how I missed pimping Sidewinder: Recoiled in my post above. I think it is the best D20 Modern book I've read yet; the creators put all their passion for the subject into it, and it shows on every page.

The Menace Manual is a great monster book; I wish more were like it. Not only does it have what would be considered traditional monsters, it has a cool collection of NPC teams, from mercs to "Ocean's 11"-style thieves. It also adds to the core book's collection of "stock" NPCs, which I also like a lot.

I like Urban Arcana, but I don't think I'd recommend buying it at regular price. If you can find it secondhand, it's worth getting.
