I really can't understand the love for Complete Divine and lack of love for Defenders of the Faith.

The latter introduced Divine Feats (one of the best non-core enhancements, IMHO) to the game. It had some real innovation within. Maybe everyone was down on the few overpowered prestige classes and items (Arm of Nyr, I'm looking at you).

Complete Divine, OTOH, was a poorly-edited, not-fully-3.5 rehash of much of DotF.

I agree with Shade on Complete Divine, but not on DotF - which also sucked (one reason is due to the introduction of the awful Divine Feats concept!).

Both were terrible.

I wish I could say that I was surprised to see PHB2 rate higher than either Complete Arcane and Complete Warrior, but I am not. I thought it had a few good things to offer (the druid shapeshift variant, the fighter ability variants, a few worthwhile feats and the polymorph spells), but was merely above average and I become less impressed with the book the more that I look at it.

The big surprise for me was the rating for Complete Adventurer which I thought was completely mediocre at best. The best thing it had to offer, imo, being the expanded skills with only a few of the actual spells, feats, and PRC being any decent (sorry, I dislike the Scout with its skirmish and consider ithe class to be vastly overrated). However, given that I thought the majority of the race and class books were dismal, I expected the book to finish 5th to 6th (behind Complete Arcane, Complete Warrior, Heroes of Horror, PHB2 and possibly Complete Mage).

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but, I've seen more than a few scouts in play over the past few years, so, it doesn't surprise me that the Complete Adventurer gets the nod.

Given the rather glowing reports I generally see about PHB II, that's not a surprise at all.
