The dragon's scales and the gems are the only bits that do not eventually evaporate. Richard, with the help of the others, is able to eventually gather all of the scales from the colossal creature's body.

OOC: The scales amount to a colossal dragon's hide, which can be used as the raw materials to craft dragonhide armor or sold for 1000gp.

You also collect dozens of amethyst, garnet, onyx, jade, quartz, azurite, and other gems and precious stones from the remains, totaling to a net of nearly a thousand platinum pieces.

Total value of the gems, after selling them: 9000gp

Gathering the body of the druid and Thallirae, you work your way back to the surface. In the chamber at the base of the mushroom, you find Brother Coir waiting for you. He stands, blindfold over his eyes, as you enter, and nods. "You were successful? I hear the clanking of crystal, what did you find down there?" Before you can explain, he shakes his head. "We should all hear this tale, Vagrant especially. Come."

He guides you up, into the light of day, and takes you back to the chamber where you first met the elven Grandmaester Vagrant. He greets you jovially. "The monastery is alive again! Please do tell, what happened in the bowels of our fair home?"

[sblock=The Druid's Book: ]Written in a strange draconic dialect, the book describes various necromantic rituals, most of which involve using sacrifices to obtain life force with which to weave the magic of the rituals.

The book opens easily to an apparently oft-read page. It describes one particular ritual which can be used to rip holes through the planes, defying even deific abjuration, overcoming powerful planar bindings and possibly death.

The book warns, however, "The author cautions against the use of this ritual. The strain on the soul would be intense, even for the most learned of necromancers, and the side effects of such a summoning cannot be predicted with any kind of certainty. Moreover, the monumental nature of the life force required, and the long preparations involved make this casting a most difficult trial indeed. To detain such a powerful subject for so long is no small task, as the author will attest."[/sblock]

Not seeing anyone else step forward to speak, Rinya starts talking.

"Well...After we fought the satyrs, we continued deeper into the tunnels and we found a room with zombies. Not regular zombies, these were faster and stronger. And the roots came out of the walls and tried to infect us with poison. We lost one of our own, and had to retreat, but we finally killed them.

Then, a druid and a dragon entered the room. Apparently the dragon had some kind of hold over the druid, but in a moment of strength, the druid took his own life, which was apparently connected to the dragon's lifeforce, for they then both died.

We found the green shard nearby, waning. We recovered many jewels and scales from the dragon, and a book from the druid. I'll let one of the readers talk about that."

[sblock=loot]
Does anyone want to keep the scales for crafting, or can we sell them?

And how many shares do we need? I'm counting four (Rinya, Richard, Saithnar and Khairi). Do we need shares for Lucien or anyone else I'm forgetting?[/sblock]

Saithnar informs the monks about the vile contents of the book written in draconic. "I wonder if the spectral dragon we saw was summoned with these rituals perhaps...unwise I would say."
[sblock=Loot]Not sure on the shares. As for the dragon scales, I wouldn't be crafting with them myself. I'd like for Saithnar to be able to keep one for a souvenir with no monetary value though.[/sblock]

Khairi looks the loot over. I do not have a use for the dragon scales, although I remember a shop in Orussus that would buy such DiSenzio's I believe it is called.

ooc: might as well make it available to others for use :)

[sblock=Loot]Khairi will not be crafting anything and has no use for the scales. I am for dividing the cash value.[/sblock]

[sblock=experience]

started with 3750

3750+100(monks)+750(satyrs)=4600

3rdlvl*7*50=1050

4600+1050(time)=5650

5650+720(zombies)=6370

4thlvl*6*50=1200

6370+1200(time)=7570

[/sblock]

Richard is fine with selling the scales, though he will also keep a few as souveniers, "Would it be ok if I kept four scales? The young fighter seems to blush a bit as he asks...

[sblock=EXP] OOC Thanks for your patience guys, and thanks to Heckler for formatting the EXP so nicely!

Beginning EXP = 5781
+100 for meeting the monks
EXP = 5781 + 100 = 5881
Satyrs +750 EXP
5881 + 750 = 6631! DING! Level 4!
Additional EXP awards (for time) are +1400
6631+1400=8031
+720 for Zombies
8031+720=8751
Time EXP = 8751 + 1200 = 9951 Blarg!
Wow, almost 5th![/sblock]

Vagrant nods gravely as you tell your story. "Thallirae is dead? How many have died now?" Some brothers come in to take Thallirae's body from you. "Her cousin will want to inform their family. Will you take her with you? The lands outside our monastery are difficult for us to navigate. But once we have traveled the route, we never forget."

Now Vagrant spreads his hands. "You have our thanks. We are sorry our situation cost you so much. Take the treasures you found, of course. The crystal shard, however... Leave it with us, and we will protect it as we have been, albeit unknowingly, all this time.

"Brave people, leave with our undying gratitude. You will always be welcome in the Wyrwood."

Thallirae's cousin joins you in your journey home, and thanks you once you reach a city, where she hires an escort to take her home. "No, no. I am more than capable of handling myself. You have my thanks for saving our Monastery. Though she is gone, Thallirae will be a part of the Wyrwood now. Farewell."

You travel back to Orussus and finally find yourself before the great stone dragon, in front of the Red Dragon Inn.

[sblock=OOC: ]I'll get a judge to approve the rewards.

Since you're selling them, I recommend you sell the scales at di Senzio's. It would be great if somebody took them there.

Otherwise, thanks everybody![/sblock]

ooc: Thanks for running this, Rae. I know things got tough towards the end. Good job!

Regarding loot. If we divide the gems up 4 ways that's 2250 each. I'll take the dragon scales to Di Senzio's and maybe we can get a little extra for them. I'll post results in this thread.

Souds good on all counts, Richard made enough to pay off his debts... oh, and saved (a bit of) the world. Not a bad deal!
Thanks again to all that helped make this adventure work.

Di Senzio's bought the scales for 1100, so we each get an additional 275gp, for a total of 2525gp each.

There is one other bit of business that needs dealt with: the CLW wand.

Phoenix and Tumna each paid 375 for a fully charged wand (750gp), with the understanding that they would be reimbursed by the party members they were helping to cover. The wand currently has 35 charges remaining, giving it a value of 525 gp.

And to make things more difficult, I'd like to go ahead and purchase it from the party.

So who owes who how much? And Phoenix, how much do you need to be reimbursed?

Here's my first guess on the wand. If Phoenix and Tumna each paid half the value of the wand and you want to buy the wand, then just pay each of them half of the current value?? Let's see... half of 525 is 260gp and 5 sp. That's the easy way.

Otherwise you get into each party member (some of which are dead now) paying for their share of the fully charged wand (1/4 of 750, or 1/5?) split between Phoenix and Tumna and then Heckler's character paying each of these PC's 1/4 or 1/5 of the current wand value to buy it from the party? Something like that? (It's early and my brain isn't awake yet.)

I'd be fine with the first method just for simplicities sake.

Richard would gladly pay 200gp to Rinya for the whole staying alive thing...
I'll mark +2525 for treasure and -200 for 'cost of living' expenses =)
I'll check back here to see if that turns out to be unacceptable.
Richard would pay more, gladly, or help out in any other way, if anyone even touches on a subject of need in party conversation.
(Say, on the way back to the RDI)

I'm all for keeping things simple.

So of the 275 of Rinya's share, she's paying 260.5 to Phoenix. Tumna dissappeared a long time ago so...

...so Rinya nets +14gp and 5 sp from the scales.

Richard, keep your money. You put yourself on the front line keeping me alive, so we're even.

So unless I missed something or my math is wrong, everything is settled.
