The Box

Do you have trouble with "here one week, gone the next" players? Tired of coming up with reasons why the cast changes every session? You need The Box: a convient act of DM to swap PCs in and out of the party, written to use with The World's Largest Dungeon. Download it now:

This is the first thing I've written for d20 so I'm fairly sure I've screwed up the OGL or something. If mentioning The World's Largest Dungeon in a PDF is a product identity violation, let me know.

It isn't generally allowed to use the names of books in a work, except in the section 15 of the OGL. You have to ask the publisher for a permission or remove the reference.

The idea is very creative though; I liked it. The only thing I can imagine that would be worse than being scratched and bitten in that box would be to be forced to listen to the Marcarana the entire time trapped.

Hey Marcarana! iiiiup. :)

First, welcome to the boards!

Second, I like your idea- it's pretty entertaining, it has in-game justification, and it looks like it would work pretty well. (Personally, I'm satisfied with my method of handling come-and-go players, since we have a bunch of conflicting work schedules and whatnot, so often several players miss all or part of any given session, but that's just me- I'm well aware that this sort of thing can be problematic.)

Thanks people! As I re-read the OGL the violation becomes clear.

I'm sending AEG an email. If they're not happy, it's easily recast into something more generic.

How does the product name restriction tie in in with d20 products that say "You must own the D&D 3rd edition handbooks to use this product"? Isn't that a claim of compatibility or somesuch?

Incidentally, I've just realised I'm using the same header font as Ronin Arts. *bangs head on table*.

It is, but by the license you're required to add this sentence (so WotC can sell more and more PHBs ;) ).

Anyway, while it might be over-the-top for you to see a lawyer, you should at least read the license(s).

IANAL...

(Edit: )
Oh, and welcome to the boards :)

That's a good idea!

Since you are not selling it, is there really a copyright/OGL issue? I don't know the first thing about it.

Yes, that's actually a very good idea. I've email jim pinto about it - he may just give me the nod, of course.

To answer Bobitron's question - whether I charge or not, I'm distributing.
