Which seems to match up with what I read in RPG.net last week - at least as far as the core book is concerned.

Yup, that's right. A friend of mine edits for Eden, and he's said they're planning to restart the Buffy line with the revised rulebook and Welcome to Sunnydale (I think they're shooting for a Gen Con launch on both of those, IIRC). After that, they've got Tea and Crossbows (the Watcher's sourcebook) to come, and probably one or two more supplements in the not too distant future.

Angel's got Money, Gods, and Laywers (the Wolfram and Hart book) coming out at some point as well, so neither line is (un)dead yet :)

As I recall, the six books thing was always just a rumor. Heck, they've got practically that many in production for the Buffy game, with Buffy Revised, Welcome to Sunnydale, the Investigator's Handbook (Angel), Tea and Crossbows (Buffy/Angel), Encyclopedia Demonica (Angel), Lawyers, Gods and Money (Angel) and Military Monster Squad coming. And there's been unconfirmed reports that they'll be given the green light to do post-finale books in the same semi-continuity as the novels like "Queen of the Slayers."
