The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

[sblock=Doh!]You are quite right. I can only claim a senior moment. IC rolled 1d6 twice for me giving 3 each time and I did not add the Con mod. Therefore the actual damage of the attack should be +4. And if the dragon moves closer it will take 7 damage not 3[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc vacation]I'm out of town and off the internet from tomorrow morning until the 26th. If Quagmire's turn comes up, he'll try to ensure flanking, and probably Aid Another on Hrav's attacks. I'd planned to save Inspiring word for when someone falls unconscious, but if it's the only way to prevent someone falling unconscious (e.g. ongoing acid damage will surely drop them at the start of their turn), that's fine too. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] Have a nice trip cov!
And it's time for a...
[sblock=revised wishlist][size=+2]6th- Waraxe +2[/size]
[size=-2]5th- Armor of sacrifice +1
4th- Collar of recovery +1
3rd- --
2nd- Belt of vigor[/size]
1st- Floating shield(got it)
[/sblock]

:heh:
Alex's gonna make clothes out of that nice black fashionable skin, and pin that dragon skull right next to the crocodile skins in the Hanged man :devil:[/sblock]

-Quagmire takes a moment to steady himself before moving away from the water. (Gained 7 HP and temporary +2 to all defenses from second wind.)

-Alex stands his ground while his willpower keeps him standing strong. (Took 5 acid damage and regenerated 4 of it. Also second winded to gain 10 HP and +2 to defenses till next turn. Made save to end ongoing acid damage.)

-Hrav nicks the dragon with his shuriken before tumbling away to hide well in the bushes. (Takes 5 ongoing acid dmg, makes save to stop ongoing acid dmg.)

-Girth shoots another blast of dark light at the dragon, injuring her slightly.

-Kartharath takes out her displeasure on Alex since he is the only one still at hand. She bites him hard and once more leaves a coating of acid eating into him and his armor.

-Quagmire, Alex, Hrav, and Girth again...

[sblock=Round 7 Init/Status]19- Alex / hp 17/41, bloodied, 5 ongoing acid damage, regen 4hp at start of any turn when he's bloodied, +2 all defenses till start of next turn
18- Hrav / hp 10/31, bloodied
20- Girth / hp 28/35, concealment till end of his next turn
29- Kartharath / hp -148
29- Quagmire / hp 15/31, bloodied, +2 all defenses till start of next turn[/sblock]

Heck, this green stuff stings! grunts Alex as he starts to press the Dragon again, and after a few feints aided by Quag's menacing stance on the other side of the beast, his blade bites the dragon's flesh again. Just to remind her the big bearded guy is still kickin'.

[sblock=actions]Take 5 dmg, regenerate 4. basic attack 22 vs AC, 9 dmg and mark the dragon. save vs ongoing:fail, damn.[/sblock]

[sblock=tactics and Quagmire's action]I suggest Quagmir moves to K21 so he flanks with Alex and use the aid another to give Hrav that +2. I suggest that Hrav tries a Stealth check to gain CA from a distance, and, if his roll is low, moves and flanks with Alex from L21; that +4 to hit should be enough.[/sblock]

OOC: I'll post for Quagmire later.

Quagmire moves up to flank the beast with Alex and calls out to Hrav "Go for it, I'll distract it!"

[sblock=actions]Quagmire moves to K21 and uses standard action to make an Aid Another basic melee attack roll vs. AC 10 (1d20+7=13) with +2 more for flanking= hit! So Hrav gets +2 to his next attack roll versus the dragon. Since Quagmire was technically first to act, he also gave Alex +2 on his attack due to flanking in case it was needed.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc situation]I'm still pretty optimistic. If Hrav and Girth can hit a couple of times each, Kartharath might even fall in a couple more rounds. On the other hand, it seems it has recharged the cloud of darkness and the breath, so it's probably waiting for a good chance to use it. As it is now, the breath could be aimed at Alex (which is, er, fine) or at Quagmire and Hrav, if garyh decides to go into melee. But that would be with a -2 from marking, and it'd trigger a Combat Challenge attack. We still have one inspiring word from Quagmire, and Alex has +8 in heal, so even if someone drops, it's far from over.
Btw, Digger, are you using Dire Radiance because the target defense is lower? The dragon isn't very likely to move if Alex doesn't (like when we retreat after a cloud of darkness), so EB is more damaging.[/sblock]

If, as I assume this is a young blackie, his ref is higher than his fort. So I have a slightly better chance of doing 7.5 damage and 3.5 curse damage than 9.5 + 3.5. Also the dragon has moved a couple of times. If he keeps doing so then an occasional 3.5 extra damage should make up for the difference in normal attack.

BTW I don't usually meta-game like this - but desperate times need desperate measures. I hope I won't do it again.

[sblock=OOC]As you might have guessed from my last post I now have the MM.

On looking through, but without a serious investigation, I cannot find any mention of 'basic attack' on the creatures I have looked at. Do they just use one of their 'at will' attacks if they get 'Opportunity Attacks' against us?[/sblock]
