The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

[sblock=Swoop da whoop!]

* Materializes with an away team of redshirts *

By stopping their movement does that use up their whole move action even if they had squares left? I've always been fuzzy on that aspect. Or can they just resume moving after being stopped and then go ahead with their attack on a standard action? Maybe the judge will swoop down to confirm?
I'm quite sure Ata is right. A fighter hits on an OA provoked by a move action and the move action is lost. If the critter still has actions left, it can still use those to resume movement - typically substituting a standard action for a move action to get away.

* Hails mothership and is beamed up *

Yanking his sword from the neck of a dying rat, Quagmire is suddenly struck by the terrible beauty of the tiny fountain of blood erupting from the doomed creature. Again, as so often seems to happen in the midst of the thickest combat, time seems to slow to a crawl, and Quagmire finds himself mesmerized by the arterial flow. Its fragile, transient beauty reminds him of a flower he once saw growing between the cobblestones of the street outside Madame Ketratek's place in Bacarte. His breath catches for a moment, the same way it did all those years ago when he watched that flower as a child, knuckles white on the windowsill, as horses and carriages and feet and claws trampled the busy street, somehow missing that one single flower for perhaps ten frantic, suspenseful minutes before a passing minotaur paused to eat it.

The moment passes. The sanguine flood ebbs, bright crimson spurts slumping into a spreading brownish stain in the bilgewater as the rat carcass slips below the surface. Oh, well, thinks Quagmire, I can make another, and he slams his sword home into another rat.

ooc: bump

OOC: Okay, trying to get caught up. My apologies for my lateness. I started trying to retool everything for having the Rat Swarm get stopped before seeing that you decided to let them through.

OOC2: garyh, who were you targeting with the Piercing Strike that you crit'ed with? You said D1, but that Dire Rat is dead and gone. Could mean G1, but you mentioned flanking so I thought maybe you meant the Rat Swarm. That's what I'm gonna assume here unless you tell me otherwise and I can make a correction. You also said in the descriptive text that you were stabbing the swarm twice, so I think I'm right on assuming that is the target.

-Hrav and Alexander both try to hit the swarm of rats as Alew decides to let it pass so they can surround it. Hrav misses, but Alex hits for 3 damage.

-As the swarm gets close to Quagmire, he unleashes his held attack and hits one of the small rats in the swarm (2 damage) while giving Hrav a chance to hit again as well. The bugbear doesn't connect though and the swarm splashes on.

-Hrav stabs at the swarm and pierces through several of the small rats in a row! (Crit for 15 total damage including SA). More of the small rats run up the bodies of their fellows though to bite at the bugbear. He brushes them off with his other hand before they can sink their teeth in though. (Swarm aura attack missed.)

-Alex takes a little more damage from the bites he incurred earlier (3 ongoing damage) before cleaving through one of the dire rats (9 damage D3) and into a giant rat (4 damage to G6, killing it). The swarm on his other side bites at him some more just from being so close and injures him further. (4 more damage from Swarm aura attack. I also rolled his save vs. the ongoing damage and it failed. Roll linked below as always.)

-The dire rats both attack Alexander, but only one bites him. (D3 hits with the help of flanking from the Swarm for 3 damage and exposure to Filth Fever.)

-At the beginning of their turns, Brudd, Girth, and Quagmire get bitten at from being near the swarm of rats. Girth gets bitten by the rats (for 8 damage, unless Brudd somehow kills the swarm on his turn. If so, then I'll edit this and retcon the damage).

Brudd covered in biting and ganwing rodents bellows,

"Look into the heart of Hadeys vermin and know fear!" Dark light surrounds him and his eyes turn to mercury as he loom over the swarm. However the rats seem unimpressed by the Minotaur's fearsome demeanor, even nipping at his hide as he calls upon his god (provokes from RS and D3).

"Boss ye bastard help a bull out here will ye! Heal me pal Alex, since ye apparently aren't botherin' yer arse with anythin' else!" He roars looking to the heavens. "Gah, lend me yer might or I am gonna start gonna swith te a worshippin' a goddess fer the view! Help me 'n' me pal Alex exterminate this rodent!"

Calling up his reserves Brudd turns and moving to flank with Alex (to D5) chops at a dire rat (D3), this time he feels the power of Hadeys behind his blow and his bastard sword sinks deep into the rats hide.

OOC: Curses! I was trying to grant everyone OAs on the Rat Swarm, but rolled a nat 1, grr!

Quagmire's hobgoblin blood comes to his aid, and he shrugs off the ongoing damage.

ooc: immediate save from hobgoblin resilience: 11. I'm not sure when the actual bite that gave him the ongoing damage happened, so if it was a while ago there's no need to go back and recalculate things; I just want to avoid the 3 damage on his next turn.

Girth squeals at the rat swarm in an effective imitation.

"Be that the best you can do, foull beasts. May the curses of my Lady be upon you. And may thy bowels freeze up with my hate.

Girth tries to blast the rat swarm but the ill-luck that has been plaguing him recently seems bound to continue.

Quagmire hacks away at the rat swarm. It's hard to tell if his blow is effective, among the writhing vermin.

[sblock=actions]Viper's strike, hits AC 16 for 5 damage. If that's a hit and the swarm shifts before next turn, Hrav gets an OA.[/sblock]
