The Cassini-Huygens Mission.

For those of you who don't know, the Cassini-Huygens mission is an unmanned probe currently in orbit around Saturn. Cassini has returned tons of pictures and readings, and the Huygens probe descended into the thick atmosphere of Titan, Saturn's largest moon, to send back data about it's surfece.

Now they tell us that another moon of saturn has an atmosphere! Cassini is one of the most exciting things in astronomy since Galileo, and I'm referringthe the Jupiter probe, not Galileo Galilei. http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/galileo/.

I thought I'd start athread to discuss modern astronomy, if anyone's interested. Who knows, this discussion could end up giving someone ideas for a d20 Future game.

They didn't say what kind of atmosphere, did they? Still, really exciting stuff!

The observations from the Enceladus flybys are believed to be due to ionized water vapor.

Um, I don't think so.

:p Yeah, missed that line at the third paragraph. I skimmed to fast, I guess.

Neat that the moon might be active, though.

Totally. I was excited aboutthe data Huygens collected. they've put it together into a landscape, and it's just beautiful.

I'm still tingling about the Galileo mission, though. Europa needs a probe, dammit.

- Kemrain the Future, uh, Europian? That's not right...

Well, we can't attempt landings on Europa. Haven't you read 2010: Odyssey Two? ;)

We've got the rest of the universe, just not Europa. Can't mess with developing life. :)
Like hell we can't! Besides, I think things would be made bad for life on Europa when we made Jupiter into a new star...

Or is that the wrong series?
