The chamberlain, the king, and the dragon (drobe)

Before it can act, you deliver swift justice.

<snip>

The Hag is going to die.
OK, I'm happy with that outcome.

If sheadunne notices soon and you guys beat a hasty effort (a successful group Athletics check versus hard DC) down the King's stair and trail to the Royal Gardens then you will arrive at the beginning of round 4.
I suppose jumping down is out of the question?

Its not out of the question but you're looking at a 80 ft drop so (fast alternative) 25 damage + 3d10. Big damn heroes can make that jump. You guys' call. If you're going to Geronimo then you'll both take 37 damage and you'll immediately be framed into the scene in round 3, prone, in U9 and U10. If that is what you Thurgon and Theron would do then let me know what that looks like, mark off the damage, and roll initiative!

How would my Boots of the Dryad interact with that fall?

I've got 98 hp (I've taken no damage so far), one use of LoH left, a Daily attack that does healing left, plus 9 unused surges (I lost 1 arguing with the chamberlain, spent 1 on LoH and spent 2 on Belf of Sacrifice). So I'm jumping.

HP: 61 of 98
HS: 9 of 13

Initiative: +5, +3 from d20, = 8. Know fear!

If you want to aim for the top of a tree and simultaneously activate your boots, I'll let you spend the Daily to shorten the fall by 20 feet (the 4 squares of movement of the boots) and land on your feet in S6. You would take 29 damage still but it would reduce your fall by 8 damage and you wouldn't be prone. Let me know.

I'll need initiative from you regardless.

Very well!

Will have battle map updated tomorrow. We're going to go action by action here.

Okay, I'll do it.

HP Remaining: 68
Healing Surges: 12/12

Location: S6

Initiative: 10+4 = 14 (Still faster than Speedy the Paladin) :)
pemerton, have you expressed Thurgon's goals here to Theren?

Assuming Lucann still stands after the quicklings go, this will be my action. As long as Lucann has any hp left he will do as follows:

Quivering with guilt, Lucann turns to Quinn: "You are my true brother. We do not agree on much. You embrace the nothing, and I embrace my connection to the world around me. Know whatever happens that I am sorry for bringing my spear upon you. You lack faith, but that is alright. I have faith in you." As those words leave his lips, the diamond cincture on Lucann's belt seems to crack and he stands a little more resolute.

Looking upon the blood and ichor now staining his lover, Lucann is overcome with grief. He turns to the dryad: "I now see what part I have played in all of this. It was I who first violated the Accords. I broke the oldest of accords - to honor the bounds of the heart. When you disappeared I did not seek you - I sought solace among those who barely remembered what it really means to honor the Accords. I followed the faith of the cynics and let myself become consumed with the rage of divine wrath. I lost sight of true faith - the faith I should have had in you. Blood of my heart, I still bleed for you."

Gripping his spear in one hand, Lucann digs the blade into his left arm. When he is satisfied that the blade is covered in enough of his own blood to atone for that which he has spilled, Lucann, now hanging onto his own life by a thread, thrusts his Spear of Oaths Fulfilled deep into the sacred ground of the grove. "Now I speak the words I should have spoken many decades past: Maiden of the Tree, I am eternally bound to you. Your heart is my heart. My soul is your soul. I pledge myself to you in this life and the next. I will not love another - we are as one. I cannot harm you without harming myself"

Sehanine once again quells the poison within Lucann's veins, but does not intervene against the shadow magic slowing his movement.

He turns to his maiden once again: "If you wish to end my current existence you may. Know that I will return to you - thus we are bound. From this day forth until the True Forest leaves the world I will never abandon you."

Minor Action: Insightful Comment (Allies receive +5 to bluff, diplomacy, and intimidate checks until the end of my next turn)
Minor Action: Diamond Cincture (Spend a healing surge) Fortitude bonus goes down by one until extended rest. Item is spent for the day. +23 hp.
Standard Action: Elven Marriage Ceremony (Religion:1d20+15=27) 23 damage to self.

Saving Throw vs. Ongoing Damage:1d20=20 - Sehanine is with Lucann - Sort of!
Saving Throw vs. Slowed:1d20=9 Not so much!

Damage Taken: 12+9+5+5+23+9 =63
Healing Done: 23
hp:14/92
Surges:6/8
AP:0

All does not look well for our elven priest.
Send a striker to do a defender's job will you!

Hey, we're coming!

The dim of the moonlight and the motes from the lanterns are insufficient for his aged eyes to take in the quiet battle beneath you. The movements are odd but perhaps there are gardeners down there doing their nightly tending. The stray sound of battle on the walls and the launch of the catapult can be heard in the distance.

Suddenly it occurs to him: "Where is my queen?"

Passive Perception of 18 is insufficient for the Medium DC. At 24, Theron would surely notice if he ends up joining you.
have you expressed Thurgon's goals here to Theren?
I'm reliant on you to tell me what's going on down there before we jump!

Assuming you tell me something like "Quinn and Lucann seem to be arguing with a dryad while they fight some quicklings and swarms", I will suggest that we leave the dryad to them while we fight off the quicklings and swarms.

Do you have multi-target attacks? I've got two close burst that I'll try and use against the swarms, assuming I land in something like the right spot; Manbearcat, my Acrobatics for these purposes is skill +3, plus 10 from d20 = 13.

This is cool.
Hopefully the arrival of the heavy infantry won't muck things up too badly.

You are prone in U10 to start the combat due to the fall. If your Acrobatics is referring to the challenging, flourescent terrain where the Quicklings are strafing from then see the below part of post 129:

3) The fluorescent green squares are various wild (or Feywild harvested) flora of many varieties; flowers, ferns, bushes, et al. They all come up to the knees (sometimes up to the thigh) of a medium sized creature and offer partial concealment to small creatures. The tangling nature of the flora make these squares challenging terrain. Moving through them requires an Athletics check at Medium DC (20) or Acrobatics check at Easy DC (14). Failure in this check means your movement action is spent and you are in the first square of the challenging terrain.

You can manage it with a roll of 4 on your + 16 Athletics. If you're referring to the running waters coming down from the mountain lake and pooling where the Swarms and Dryad now are, refer to 5:

5) As a standard Action, the running waters that roil down from a mountain lake can be blessed by a holy man that can infuse it with Divine energy (Medium Religion check). Doing so turns the running waters into holy water; Radiant damage to any creature vulnerable to Radiant damage and is hindering terrain to any such creature. Otherwise, these waters are thigh high and difficult terrain.

Its difficult terrain for everyone unless either a holy man blesses it with Divine Energy, then it is hindering terrain for the Dryad.

You guys may have to have to deal with that Feygrove Choker Minion opportunity attack and the hindering terrain of the Brambleweed that covers the trees they are in before any Quickling/Swarm Defender shut-down occurs!
