The Dragon #26

This was my first issue of The Dragon. Or technically, the oldest among the first, since I bought it with a few others in the 20's & 30's. At the time I thought it was the weakest issue out of all my purchases, mostly because of the focus on Napoleonics (hey, I was a kid - I barely knew who Napoleon was, much less any serious wargamers). Since I already had the DMG, the most useful articles (random parties and the nascent deck of many things) were already covered in AD&D rules. The advice articles probably informed some of my early opinions on AD&D gaming, though.

Always good to see this thread revived again, especially now that it's finally getting to the era where, IMO, (The) Dragon really began to hit its stride.

#27 is the oldest issue I still own (although my pre-251 issues are sitting at my parents house in garage sale stuff).

The problem with remembering the first issue I owned was that a friend of mine subscribed first. I have memories of a lot of the issues in this range, but forget which were my friends and which I used to own.

Yay! It's back. I had the tesseract article in a Best of Dragon anthology. Way, way cool. Never did use it though. Always wanted to.
