Minion is a plot element, not a state of being. If you try to cheese it like that, the mega-minion becomes a mega-not-minion, IMO.

This.

People need to grok that minion 1 hit point is an abstraction. If this concept is too hard to understand go back to playing 3x,2nd,1st.

As much as people joke abotu bags of rats, or grappling with a hamster (50% cover!) or whatever in 3e, has anyone ever seen these things tried in play?

Has the person ever been invited back?

I doubt such exploits (damn, could the WOTC designers have chosen a WORSE word for Martial powers?[1] Well, 'Magic cuddlehugs', I guess. Barely.) will be any more prominent in actual play in 4e than they were in 3e. It's like pointing to Pun-Pun and wondering why every PC isn't a kobold demigod.

Frankly, I think the real table arguments will be over the use of forced movement on allies -- since it ignores difficult terrain and can often add considerably to total distance moved, it might be worth it for the fighter to suck down a small attack in order to be defact flung across the battlefield. I would basically do a "spirit of the rule" ruling on that one, but some DMs will differ.

[1]Of course, dubious naming conventions are pretty old-school.
