The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

(Palindrome seems inordinately happy to have broken a cobblestone and gotten away with it.)

---

"Why are you knocking? It looks like they left the door unlocked for us," Palindrome says, displaying his lockpicks.

Now that's just embarassing.

Looks like there's only so many clicks in that clicker over at Invisible Castle.[/sblock]

Woe sighs and does a facepalm, hoping Palindrome hasn’t broken off his picks in the lock and compromised their entire payment for the job.

[sblock=OOC]:lol:

Love the whole "Just ignore him" shtick![/sblock]

Palindrome looks up with a blush and uneasy grin.

He glances about, listens at the door, and takes a deep breath.

"*Ahem*," he clears his throat and speaks with his voice an octave lower, "Why are you knocking? It looks like they left the door unlocked for us."

[sblock=Woe Chinua art]The great artist Aikuchi has been so kind and drawn this fantastic piece to depict Woe. The smile is just absolutely perfect! :)[/sblock]

Palindrome quickly realizes that this lock is beyond him, clearly the work of a master.

At the backdoor a matronly women weary a straining maids outfit, that presumably must have fit once answers.

"I am Miz Dodridge the House Keeper for this establishment, I have been informed that I am to be at your disposal for the rest of the day should you wish it. To whom or where would you like to be taken first." Dodridge's face is lined with laughter lines and she almost appears to be doing an impression of someone prim and proper.

[sblock=On Locks and their DCs] I realize that heroic tier locks are supposed to be a dc20, but frankly the idea that any lock one tries to open will be appropriate to ones level is abhorant. This is one of Daunton's premier residences and clearly protected as such.[/sblock]

[OOC: That Woe is a smirky b@$t@rd! ;)]

You can take your nasty logic and stuff it in a sack, mister!

*THBBBP!*[/sblock]

In the space of time necessary for the door to open, Palindrome's lockpicks have vanished, replaced by his notebook and a stick of graphite.

"Greetings! The security at this place is amazing! I commend your employers for it, but leads me to the following question: When you murdered Arnest, how were you able to escape detection upon leaving the premises?"

He raises his writing utensil and an eyebrow, expectant.

"I used my feminine wiles, its amazing what a bit of leg can get you." Dodridge replies without missing a beat, she does indeed draw up her skirts showing the group a full six inchs of ankle.

Palindrome speaks as he writes, "Bit off his legs."

He turns to his companions, bemused.

"Well, gentlemen, I must say I thought it rather dubious when Lady Glasston told us that the person responsible for the dissappearance would meet us at the door, and doubly-dubious--even inconceivable--when she said that said person felt so secure from suspicion that person would confess to the heinous crime without batting an eye. Now all we need is for this cannibal to show us to the boy's remains, and we can call it a day."

[sblock=Bluff check]Palindrome bluffs that he seriously considers Miz Dodridge a suspect. (1d20+7=10)

@#$!

You get one twenty, then every other roll goes to hell in a handbasket.[/sblock]

"Are we quite finished dear? I've met your type before, what was that expression, all mouth and no trousers? I am sure we are all very amused, but I had understood you had some important business to tend to?" Despite her statement she does appear to be amused, her eyes twinkle and her mouth strains to remain straight.
