The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

As Tander begins to look around for more mundane items of interest, his mind is filled with thoughts of turkey and mashed potatoes. How odd, he thinks. Shaking his head, he continues looking around.

Happy Turkey Day! Or, if you're vegetarian, Happy Tofurkey Day! (Don't laugh, they're actually pretty good).

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am, in fact, vegetarian, and at this exact moment I do, in fact, have a tofurkey in the oven! :D Loves me some tofurkey![/sblock]

Dodridge frowns her brow wrinkling as she considers Palindrome's question.

"Me and the staff would have the most to gain frankly, the young master did not treat us well - he believed that his position afforded him more liberties than it in fact did - or does, I hope. He was not an outgoing type, and several of the girls complained of his advances, I believe there were a few more who were not complaining to. So where to first?"

Palindrome can see no magical auras at present.

OOC: Another Happy Turkey day (real or otherwise) to all of you American types out there! Personally I can take or leave Thanks Giving, but I like pumpkin pie and when in Rome sort of thing...

“Oh?” Woe grabs a turkey leg conveniently placed within his reach on a nearby kitchen table and gnaws on it as they proceed.

“I was under the impression that the young “master” was preoccupied with a maiden of elven heritage instead? Perhaps Arnest is the kind of man to eat his cake with a solid share of topping on it, hmm?”

Woe chuckles as he recalls nights in Bacarte involving maids and cake, then cringes at the realization that Dodrige is a maid herself.

“First things first, we need to see his chambers. And I need a drink to focus my wits - Kythirian liqour or brandy from the Valley of Bone will do.”

[sblock=Turkey frenzy!] Happy Thanksgivings to you Americans! We don’t celebrate it here, but I’m all in favor of events that feature copious amounts of meat![/sblock]

Seeing his fellows grab some food without reproach from the maid, Tander helps himself to a small plate of peas and mashed potatoes.

"Indeed, Arnest's chambers would be a wise place to start, if that is agreeable, kind House Keeper."

"Indeed, Arnest's chambers would be a wise place to start, if that is agreeable, kind House Keeper."

"Kind house keeper? I think not. I specifically requested sandwiches cut into small triangular quarters, without crusts. I see no such thing."

"And isn't some sort of tutor-fellow supposed to be at our disposal? Along with some sort of mentally-handicapped house worker?"

"Though we're probably already stuck with the mentally-handicapped house worker."

Dodridge narrows her eyes at Palindrome,

"Now listen here you knock kneed whelp speak like that to me or any of my staff and adventurer or no adventurer I'll have you out on your ear."

Under her breath, just loud enough to be heard, she finishes, "Arrogant little twerp."

"Anyway, yes, let me take you to the young master room. The Elven girl in question has been summoned she will be with us shortly you can ask her about their relationship."

A ruddy faced cook offers them each a tray of drinks, upon which are several different types of liqor. They are all of high quality.

Palindrome, thoroughly pleased with himself, leans back, laces his fingers behind his head, and utters a short, guttural, thoroughly nasty laugh.

Woe rolls his eyes at Palindrome’s idea of working witnesses and grabs two drinks from the tray. He downs one now and replaces the empty glass on the tray then brings the other with him on the way.

“So what can you tell us about the Elven girl, darling? Considering Arnest doesn’t sound like the most lady-savvy charmer, did her interest in him revolve around his money pouch and title?”

Dodridge smiles appreciatively at Woe,

"Ah you are kind to humor a middle aged women so my boy. Let me see well the young Lady was quite earnest, had a far away look in her eyes, I understand that her family used to be quite wealthy though now she works as a Governess for some wealthy family or another. Bookish type, very pale. Now as for the," she glowers coldly at Palindrome, "disadvantaged young girl in her Ladyships employ she has gone to fetch the Elven girl, I thought I would kill two birds with one stone as it were. And you know no matter how I try I just cannot remember the Elven chits name, I know we were introduced - no matter, young Adie knows where to find her said she used to deliver messages from Master Arnest."

She shakes her head looking slightly puzzled,

"You might also wish to speak with the tutor Spinthresh, though I doubt he will be too much help says he has a crippling headache and refuses to come out of his room, if he goes on like this much longer the Lady's patience will be exhausted."
