First, don't forget that when you're squeezing, you take -5 to attack rolls, grant CA, and move at half speed (so the fort's speed becomes 1). Also, who's driving it? The driver needs both hands on the fort, i.e. not making attacks.

Good point, who wants to drive the thing? And do we want three people inside the fort?
I'd say that if Tander does not object, he could drive the fort if we are three people, since both Palindrome and Atreus have better average ranged damage and have the opportunity to deactivate the traps if we find that control panel.
If we are 2 people, I would recommend Atreus and Palindrome. I don't care which one them drives the fort, but Atreus has better average ranged attack and damage.

I'm back!

ooc: No time to process all that just now. A couple of points, though. First, don't forget that when you're squeezing, you take -5 to attack rolls, grant CA, and move at half speed (so the fort's speed becomes 1). Also, who's driving it? The driver needs both hands on the fort, i.e. not making attacks.

*Grumble*

Ouch! That pretty much eliminates the benefits of our fort.

I thought you meant 'squeeze' not in the game mechanics sense.

So here's a quick revision to the design...

  • Chop up another bunk bed.
  • Extend the top level of the fort by three feet.

Now the third person can get cover and we don't have to squeeze!

Back to the action...

OOC: Whatever keeps the game going forward. As instructed, rear position has been taken and javelin has been thrown. Waiting for resolution.

Round 1

Woe flips the trap door open. Both crossbows immediately fire, burying their bolts uselessly into the dirt-filled barrel. Woe then nudges the barrel, which rolls down the stairs unevenly, snapping off the protruding crossbow bolts. It crashes to a halt against the far wall of the landing, whereupon spears shoot out of the ground, spilling a bit of dirt onto the floor.

Tander yells a command, and the extended Fort lurches down the stairs. After a few steps, the carriers set it down and attack through the slits in the roof. Palindrome misses badly. Atreus and Tander both hit, knocking the crossbow loose from its mooring. It hangs limply, unable to threaten anyone.

No one spots a control panel.

Round 2

The remaining crossbow fires towards Tander, but the fort stops the bolt. (5 damage to the fort)

Woe moves into place behind the fort and hurls a javelin, denting an armor plate on the remaining turret.

[sblock=status and init]

I figured that since Tander doesn't need a weapon to attack, he can just drop the fort in place and attack, then pick it up as the driver as a minor action. So Tander can attack.

spears at G1, undamaged
Crossbow 1, 46 damage, disabled
Crossbow 2, 8 damage
Woe 40/40
Palindrome 27/27, one failed death save <== You're up
Tander 29/29
Atreus 20/24
The Fort 95/100

* Tander: surge x5
* Atreus: Surge x4, healing potion

[sblock=The Fort]
The Fort (medium vehicle)
HP: 100
Space: 3 squares by 1 square
AC 3; Fort 10, Reflex 3
Speed: 3 less than the slowest creature carrying it, or 4 less if only one creature is carrying it. Always at least one square.
Creature-Drawn: The Fort is carried by one or more of the creatures inside it. Carrying the fort takes both hands for each carrying creature. Moving the fort takes a move action from each creature inside it, and can only be moved during the driver's turn. That is if Woe and Tander are inside the fort, and Woe uses a move action to move it on his turn, then on Tander's turn, Tander is considered to have already used his move action for that round. If Tander declines to use his move action, he does not remain inside the fort. If the driver uses two move actions to move the fort twice, each creature inside must use two move actions to remain inside.
Driver: Whoever's in the front of the Fort. The driver must be carrying the fort, using both hands, or it cannot move.
Load: Three medium creatures, or five medium creatures if they are squeezing (PHB p.292).
Superior Cover: Creatures in the Fort have superior cover against foes the the front, top, or one side of the Fort, and have an additional +2 bonus to AC and reflex.

ooc: Palindrome needs to be adjacent to G1 in order to disarm the spears there, and I don't see how he gets there this round, unless Tander walks onto the spears. It would take two move actions (one to move the fort forward 1 square, another to swap positions with Tander) and a standard (actually disarming the trap). I suppose Palindrome could spend an AP, though it seems a waste to me. Could you clarify, please? Also, with you guys' fairly low perception modifiers, you'll be better off with some aid another attempts than a bunch of separate attempts. Just sayin'....

Got it.

---

Let's take out the second crossbow, then worry about the spear traps.

The fort will hold position, since everybody is in a good spot to attack.

Switch Palindrome's disarm check to magic missile. 1d20+5=22, 2d4+4=9

Switch move action to minor action: Aid Another - Perception 1d20+4=9

And Robert is your mother's brother.
