The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

OOC: Tander will move to B1 for the surprise round, then. Given the init rolls there is a very good chance he will get to go first.

Tactically, I agree isolation is probably a good bet, although we might want to focus on the weakest monsters first, not the strongest. Tander can try turning the doggie if it becomes a problem - that could take it out for a round. I also like the idea of blocking the corridor - who knows what's down there?

The tunnel to the south bothers me, so if one of you guys could slow or immobilize her, we could keep her from running.
Woe's a fighter. She ain't going nowhere without a beating.

Perhaps I can slip around her with my new power to tie up Arnest as well.[/sblock]

Surprise Round

Palindrome manifests an illusion, knocking the reptilian priestess to the floor, but failing to affect Arnest.

Woe charges past the startled orc and spears the fallen priestess.

Atreus moves forward, drawing a dagger.

Tander follows Atreus down the stairs.

Round 1

Tander reacts quickly to the sight of the undead hound...

Tander moves into place behind Woe, and eyes an obvious target for his divine wrath in the form of the gravehound. "Back, accursed beast! Feast on divine light!" An enormous explosion of light emerges form Tander's hand, sending the hound fleeing.

OOC: I believe Phantom Chasm imobilizes on a miss TENT, fwiw.

Tander's actions:
Move to B4.
Channel Divinity - turn undead - hits Will 18 for 9 radiant damage, push gravehound to A11, gravehound immobilized TENT. Oh, and I suspect he's vulnerable to radiant damage - bonus!

OOC: Nope, I wasn't. I believe I forgot to use a healing surge to heal the 4 points of damage I got. Let's hope it doesn't become a factor in this fight.

(ooc: Yes, I forgot to note the immobilize on a miss. Fixed. I'm pretty sure I got Atreus' HP right; he was at full then took a nick from the spear traps here, and I couldn't find any healing for him since.)

Palindrome scans his memory, but he cannot recall studying such a foe as this snakelike woman.

Round 1

Tander reacts quickly to the sight of the undead hound, invoking divine power to leave it cowering against the far wall. (hit, and it is vulnerable 5 radiant)

Arnest claps his hands with an exclamation, evoking a clap of thunder that makes Tander's ears ring. He moves south toward the passage stays right where he is. (thunder burst hits Tander but misses Woe; 9 damage and Tander is dazed (save ends))

The gravehound snarls impotently, unable to make its dead flesh move for the moment.

The snake priestess utters a sibilant phrase. Suddenly the room seems to swim around Atreus and Woe, the floor undulating wildly. Tander's mind is also assailed, but his training holds and he shrugs off the effect. In the commotion, Woe hardly notices the woman disappear, reappearing instantly to the south, still on the ground. (illusory terrain hits Atreus and Woe, they are slowed (save ends). Priestess teleports to I6.)
