If Woe changes his movement to be adjacent, he can have a combat challenge attack here.
OOC: Ok, Woe is at E4 then and saves vs slow.

“Look out, pig-face!”

Just as the orc dares to divert its attention away from Woe, the warrior responds with instinctive combat reflexes. His spear shoots out once more with lightning speed, digging through one of the orc’s cheeks with a tearing noise.

“You really need to step up your game, poop-for-brains. I’m so disappointed in you.”

Woe tilts his head in curiosity.

“Oh wait, you can’t see anything, can you? I take it all back - praise the Unseen Lord for your devotion to him by fighting sightless!”

Combat Challenge attack hits AC 27 with 11 damage.

Round 1, continued

Woe's response to the orc's lucky hit on Atreus is quick and bloody.

Palindrome, eye twitching, summons a mob of illusory angry housewives. Clearly this is a particular fear of Arnest's, since he cowers and ducks in fear. Palindrome's followup conjuring is less successful, as the bevy of strumpets mingles with the drifting shadows around the priestess, spoiling the effect. (grasping shadows misses due to concealment)

Round 2

Tander shakes off his dizziness long enough to summon divine aid, healing himself and Atreus and weakening the orc.

Arnest finds himself able to move again and does so, retreating alongside the snake lady. He raises his hands, and bolts of magical force fly from them. The bolts go in Tander's general direction, but spend themselves harmlessly against the far wall. (miss)

The gravehound likewise finds its muscles working again, and charges Tander. Its jaws lock on the cleric's leg, toppling him to the ground. Tander feels a deadly chill stealing up his leg from the wound. (charge hits. 7 damage, and Tander is knocked prone and takes 5 ongoing necrotic (save ends))

The snake priestess picks herself up. Her eyes glitter with malice and her lips twist in sibilant curses as she sents a blast of light flying at Atreus, dazing him, and causing him to completely fail to notice another illusion that follows hard on the heels of the first. (scintillating bolt hits; 9 damage and Atreus is dazed (save ends). Startling glamor misses.)

Atreus doesn't look good, the orc's lucky strike and the snake lady's faul magic has left him with serious wounds. His body may be wounded but his mind will never give up, the shadow will not get his soul. Confused and bitter he wants to attack the orc, but remembers that he has no weapon in his hand and decides to take the time to recover some of the strength he has lost.

Since I can't do much, I decide to use my second wind: heals 6 damage and has +2 to all defenses.

[sblock=About the concealment]Aren't area-effect spells unaffected by concealment? I thought only ranged and melee suffered the penalty.[/sblock]

Seconds later, an army of scantily clad strumpets mobs the snake lady, attempting to smother her in kisses and rip off her clothes.
Woe stares lustfully at the intimate display with his mouth wide-open, just barely managing to retain any measure of focus on nearby foes. Then he catches sight of Tander go down.

“I spy with my little Eye, something that begins with the letter I,” he chirps and dives into an acrobatic roll between the orc and the gravehound. As in, getting himself flanked.

“No, not infidels, pig-face. Incisions!”

Woe unleashes a low thrust at the orc’s abdomen then snaps his spear back swiftly and bashes its haft into the jaw of the beast on his opposite side.

“Bad doggie, bad!” The merc swirls around and smashes his shield upside the undead hound’s head, shoving it well away from Tander.

“Stay! Roll over, while you’re at it! Play dead!” Woe pauses and considers the redundancy of his last order. “…Oh yeah. Good job, boy!”

[sblock=Actions & Tactics]Woe uses a minor action to stare and fantasize, then moves with Pass Forward to C4 without provoking OA. He attacks the orc with Cleave, hitting AC 22 for 11 damage to the orc and 4 damage to the hound. He then spends an action point to attack the dog with Tide of Iron, hitting AC 17 for 8 damage and pushing it into C6 without following in its wake.

This one was a tough call to make – why did Woe get himself flanked? Initially it seemed more prudent to flank and attack the orc for the sake of exploiting Combat Advantage and defending Atreus. Then again, Tander literally is at the feet of his own aggressor – being a ranged combatant with only one action due to dazed means he can’t avoid an OA.

So since both Atreus and Tander are in trouble, I tried to protect them both by marking both their assailants. I could have shifted after the dog to interpose myself between it and Tander, but then I would have left the orc open to attack Atreus – this way I retain the opportunity for a Combat Challenge attack.

Aren't area-effect spells unaffected by concealment? I thought only ranged and melee suffered the penalty.
Yeah, Grasping Shadows isn’t affected by concealment – that would also mean Arnest got further damaged and slowed if he insists on standing alongside the snake lady (which he probably wouldn’t have done now, though). Now that we’re at it, Woe isn’t slowed anymore and Palindrome shouldn’t have a failed death save anymore, either.

[sblock=rules and whatnot]Man, I'm making mistakes left and right. Thanks for the catches. Yes, the priestess is hit. Yes, Woe is no longer slowed.

However, Palindrome still does have a failed death save; you need an extended rest to get rid of those.

Update in a bit, with fixes.[/sblock]

Round 2

Woe, staring at the illusionary strumpets, notices that they have managed to damage the priestess after all, tangling bloody shreds of her clothes around her. (priestess is bloodied and slowed)

Atreus takes a moment to steady himself, clearing his head. His legs still feel leaden, though.

Woe moves between the orc and gravehound, his spear a blur of pain. (orc is bloodied)

The orc screams in rage and pain, and takes a vast two-handed swing at Woe, but the fighter expertly deflects the blow with his shield, sending a shower of sparks flying from the floor. (miss)

"****! ****! ****! ****!" screams Palindrome, "They're ****** going to get a-****-way!"

"Hey, Arm-rest!," he yells, "I ***** your dead elf girlfriend. Did I mention she was dead?! And I ***** her? And she was ***** dead before we got there? And her ****** apartment was ****** covered in ****** blood, written in ****** Draconic? Kind of odd that your new girlfriend is covered in ****** scales, huh? Bet she ***** speaks ***** Draconic. Bet she was the ***** responsible for your old ***** *****-***** taking a ****** powder. Did you know that, ******?! Huh?! Oh, and in case you ***** forgot, I ***** ***** ***** your ***** elf ***** while her ****** corpse was still warm. Then, I made a ***** sock-puppet from her **** head. Look! I've got a nice ***** swatch of her skin, right here!"

Palindrome retrieves a bit of elf-hide from his pockets and waves it. (Minor Action.)

"And you! Snake Lady! You're so ugly I bet you have to tie a necrotic pork chop around your neck just to get the gravehound to play with you. Is that your face, or did your retard orc boyfriend throw up on your neck?"

OOC: Bluff or whatever. Something to keep them from running away or starting them to argue with one another. Bluff. (1d20+7=24)

I mean, what skill do I use to tick off people? Diplomacy? I guess I'm technically trying to persuade them to punch Palindrome in the face...
"Oh, and suck on this, *****-munch!"

Palindrome casts Scorching Burst on the snake lady and Arnest.
