The current BBEG

My current campaign has all the PCs playing Orcs.

The main plot thread has been that the PCs Orc tribe has been severely dimished in the recent years through many harsh battles with a rival tribe.

The Orc PCs were charged with finding a suitable location for the tribe to habitate while it rebuilds its numbers.

I've used the Kingdoms of Kalamar Orc sourcebook (Fury of the Wilderness?) as the basis for many of the NPCs and enemies. The rival tribe has many Black Orc Warriors (Lvl 3 Ftr) at their disposal, which are created in a manner similar to LOTR. The PCs actually just destroyed one of the Black Orc spawning chambers.

The BBEG is the leader of the rival tribe, Kragg, who is actually the half-brother of the PCs tribe leader. Cliche, huh?

I haven't statted him out yet, but he will be around a Lvl 10 Barbarian, or a Ftr/Barb if I decide he needs more feats.

The PCs are around Lvl 4-5 right now and I expect this to be a fairly short campaign. We have already had a number of massive battles (thank the maker for Microtactix Orc Army), one of which pitted the PCs against dozens of enemy Orcs.

The endgame is on the horizon as Kragg is about to wage a final war against the PC tribe. I expect many casualties, but if one of the PCs manages to slay Kragg, they will hailed as their new clan chief!

For my game that will start next week, the BBEG will be none other than the Lich Queen. I can't wait to see the rection the players will have when they finally meet up with her.

I'm between campaigns, but I'll be more than happy to fill in the details of the last BBEG...

The villian was Baron Cristoph von Franken, a mad scientist gnome of the usual streak- kicked out of the academy of medicine for "unorthodox" methods, studied necromancy and set out to destroy the city where he was rejected by building a monster. Although the Keepers of Lore managed to keep the incident under cover enough to make the general impression that his monster was just a flesh golem, it was actually an undead powered by both positive and negative energy, granting it something almost like a soul (I found a living undead template here on ENWorld, and wanted to try it out).

The party never interacted much with Franken himself, but did do battle several times with Jasper, his familiar, who was an imp with the unpleasant alternate form of a barbed devil. Jasper was manipulating his master, as all good imp familiars do, urging Franken to finish his experiments so that Jasper could take over after his untimely death at the hands of adventurers. Jasper got too cocky, and was slain by the party before they could meet Franken. Who slaughtered them, with the help of his creation, whom he had dubbed Revenge.

The sole surviving member of the party found a new team of adventurers to pick up where he had failed, but by the time they got there, Franken was already dead, killed by the caller in darkness that had formed from all of the souls (including the last party and Jasper) who had died under his roof. The caller, with Jasper's personality dominant, was trying to gather an army of ghouls and shadows to slaughter all that lived in his path before he was laid to rest by the party.

Demiurge out.

BBEG - invaders from another plane
The Commitee -

Head of Asset Aquisition

all of who are Kaorti, a mix of sorcerers and wizards lvl 12-14, they have quarterly meetings and report on what they have accomplished. Their two major objectives are to either get home, or reshape part of this world so they can live in it. It is the getting home branch of the organization that keeps running into the PC's. This branch has been trying to collect the artifacts the PCs have been sent for, and taking over drudic shrines as places of power. As long as they are held in check, the converters will grow stronger.
I hold out the possiblity that the PCs could actually work for them, and get them what they need to go home. In this case their orginal mentor would become the BBEG because what they need is a set of artifacts that he is collecting. He started out an unassuming sage of a backwater lord, he wasnt trusted by the lord or church. The Lord was recently killed by the committee, along with his heir. The Sage defended him, winning the respect of the church, and is now next in line to rule the Duchy. This is when the PCs left his service, suspecting him of foul play.

Not being ones to stick to a single story line, the players dug up alternative BBEG. an undead Half dragon/gnoll sorcerer/ranger brought back from the grave (over the PCs) and preparing to destroy the elven homeland. Stopping him will require uniting the elven clans, at least two clan leaders will be necesary. Now that he is back, he has to spend 1-3 years unitieing the gnoll clans to make war on the elves. Since the pcs know this will take a while it must be someone else's problem, and returned to fighting the committee.

Shard, an ancient demon, who's been on Aerth for countless centuries slowly, but surely, extending his influence. He's turned most of the northern hemisphere into a glacial wasteland. Most life in the world (what's left anyways) is around the equator and upper southern hemisphere, where the climate is more like normal mid-latitudes (due to his influence).

He must be stopped or he will eventually turn the whole world into an ice cap where he reigns supreme. If he is stopped, his magics will deteriorate - resulting in a sea level raise, turning mountains into islands and the rest of the world totally submerged.

I believe you are familiar with mine - you named him! Spoiler tags to help my players stay honest ;)

Bothriechis prefers to operate with subterfuge in most cases. However, he does prefer to mete out punishment personally.
When encountered in his lair, he will use his spell-like abilities to harass the PC's, finally using his innate powers of invisibility to flank a PC when they are fighting his underlings. When he finally engages in melee, it will be from a flanking sneak attack position. The potential for 7 melee attacks with +1d6 sneak attack on each one should provide some wonderful looks of surprise on your players' face.

It was created with the help of numerous ENWorlders. You can see a picture of him in this thread.

Pogre,
That was such a fun thread! :) I still giggle looking at his stat block. I am so eager to see what happens in the Story Hour. So far, it has been a great read.

My last BBEGs were Apophsis - an ancient king - fighter/wizard type - spent most of his time working as a librarian. His main flunky was Talith Poindexter - a decent city woman, an influential lawyer and a high level blackguard.

My next BBEG will tentatively be Kalak - Sorceror King of Tyr - ruining his city by driving all the slaves to build a giant ziggurat next to his arena. Him and the lack of food, water or metal. And the boiling heat.

Either that or Kalaks cat - having read that other thread. :D

I'm running the City of the Spider Queen module, so the BBEG is the albino on the front cover.

When the party resurfaces, they get to face Gran'Rath Tendathaloth, a rather large Red dragon who's been hunting them for 10 levels or so.

Oh, and they've just discovered that the Shadovar and some crazy silver golem cult are both after world domination in the next 2 years...

All of which makes it a bit galling that I've got to move out of town, which will cripple the campaign!
