The d20 NPCs Wiki is now open!

If you have the time, please consider entering your NPCs to the newly created d20 NPCs Wiki!

I have become increasingly frustated with D&D because it takes too much damn time to write up NPCs for it - especially high-level NPCs and spellcasters. I created the Wiki as a central exchange base for NPCs so that no one has to spend more time doing all the math of NPC and monster creation than absoultely necessary.

And while this forum is a great resource, it is hard to find exactly what you want here, and too much gets lost in the archives...

I've noted on the main page that it says that copying NPCs from published sources could violate the Open Gaming License. Could you explain that, please? According to my understanding of the Open Gaming License, copying directly from other OGC sources (including the SRD) is fine as long as everything is properly cited in the Wiki's OGL.

By the way, I've also noticed that the Wiki doesn't have it's own OGL, but it should have one.

Uhm... your link to the WotC fan site policy links to the Wiki GDFL instead of a Wizard's site.

Also, according to the GDFL, you can multi-license a Wiki. Thus, the NPC Wiki could be under both an OGL and the Wiki GDFL and suffer no ill legal consequences (to the best of my understanding).

Your current, non-OGL system thus far will limit you from allowing NPCs using material from non-WotC OGC sources. And, frankly, that's really what I wanted from the NPC Wiki - a place to find NPCs for ALL my games, not just ones using the core material.

If you decide that you want to implement an OGL, you simply have to request that all sources be properly cited and that only Open Gaming Material is used. A person such as myself could easily keep the OGL up-to-date, with a proper Section 15 listing all the OGC sources found within the Wiki. In fact, I am more than willing to take on that role should you be willing to reconsider the Wiki's non-OGL stance.

Regardless, I think this Wiki is a great idea. If you don't go OGL, I'll definitely be starting my own OGL NPC Wiki for d20 Modern.

Nice

I love this idea. I just added a monster that I had my players go up against...the dreaded Atroxio the Iron Horror. I am evil aren't I? Mind you...they are 3rd level.
