So, is it just me or is this basically Logan Hood? Embittered old legendary character who has outlived his own legend finding purpose and redemption in aiding and defending a young girl who is following in his footsteps.
I was about to say exactly that. Though I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

That said, Nottingham and its environs are a lot more vertical and a lot less forested than I'd expected.

I've never seen the Disney cartoon, but I watched that clip. I didn't realise it was so Jungle Book!

It's not just a matter of similarities. Disney were really cutting corners on the animation, and several scenes, particularly some of the dance scenes, have characters being animated by literally drawing over corresponding characters' figures from The Jungle Book frame by frame.
Yup. The lifts jumped right out at me even when I was a kid. That being said, the movie is shockingly good despite them.

This is why I hate video. I’m not going to devote 47m to something I could read in 10.
Generally I feel 100% the same. This one uses the video to illustrate its points and provide context and reference, actually conveying additional useful data with the visuals.

It's arguably the most beloved pre-Disney Renaissance cartoon. It never aspires to be great art (which Sleeping Beauty, for instance, would love to be considered as), but it's just delicious comfort food. Worth watching if you stumble across it.
Yeah, I don't care what the critics think; I really enjoy the animated Robin Hood. I couldn't explain why for a long time, but I stumbled across a video that captures it perfectly:

If accurate, the movie is very underrated.

But then I also liked Costner's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (that song is our song; we danced to it at my wedding), so clearly my taste is questionable.
